To continue with the nut theme, today is Pistachio Day. 

It's a day for the Kingdom; it's National Fairy Tale Day.

Are any of you old enough to remember when Pistachio's only came with a red dye on them that stained your fingers, face and everything else? Why did they do that? I don't remember it adding any taste or anything.

Ask a question, get an answer:

Why were pistachios dyed red?

There are two common explanations: One can be traced back to Syrian importer Zaloom, who dyed his nuts to distinguish them from his competitors. The other, more accepted story is that pistachios were probably dyed red to mask the imperfections that came about due to the drying process. These blemishes did nothing to affect the taste, but did make the nuts visually less appealing, so strictly cosmetic action was taken in order to sell more product. Thankfully, success through strictly aesthetic beautification is confined to the world of nuts. 

 

BTW, it was Red Dye #3, with more and more studies linking to the harms of the dye by consuming it

I don't remember the red nuts at all, only the green ones.

Anosmia Awareness Day on February 27th brings attention to a condition causing a loss of smell. Of all our senses, smell perhaps is taken for granted more than any other.

That would make it tough in smelling the Toast burning. 

Every generation looks back and asks, "Remember when?" This celebration indulges our love for the good ol' days while remaining in the present. On February 27, National Retro Day takes us back to a time before smartphones and the internet.

The local Fox keeps saying it's National Chili Day. especially the Weather Person.

Today is National Skip The Straw Day.  Founded in 2017 by National Day Calendar®, The Coral Keepers (students at Whitehall Middle School in Whitehall, MI), and their Advisor, Susan Tate. 

It's also National Rare Disease Day.

The Tooth Fairy will be bringing us Chocolate Souffle as our snack today.

At least the Tooth Fairy can't put my teeth. 

Except for the winds coming this afternoon, it's going to be descent day to Play Outside on this First Saturday of the month.

Minnesota will be sponsoring the Dadgum Thats Good event. 

It's also National Sunkist Citrus Day along with Self Abuse Awareness Day.
