Didn't you just make some?  They freeze really well. I often find a couple of muffins when i'm digging in the freezer. I froze 10 for us. i'd eat them all the time, but Michael can't so much and we often share one as well.

I didn't make one, but had one the neighbor made. I asked what she put in them, and it was your recipe.

Oh, the recipe is from Sally's Baking Addiction .. it's hers but they are super good.  Bit of a pain to make but not hard and so worth it.

I learned today, after picking up an Uber Eats order for delivery, that Kawa Coffee Houses sell the Morning Glory Muffins everyday while supplies last. Supposedly they make them fresh in house every morning.

There's lots of varieties of MGMs... they sell some at our store which are not whole wheat, much too sweet and very oily. So you just have to find one you like.

Evening break while it rains. Then back out after 9:00 or 10:00 pm. 

Have several prospective interviews. One would be a downgrade in salary, but the benefits are worth almost $20K less. Working for the Air Force as a civilian contractor.

We’re now under a red alert as well, though no bangs, rain or flash of lightning as yet. It’s really quite still outside too.

Quick update on the MIL. She had an elevated heart rate this morning so they transferred her to the cardiac floor for medical management. PT got her up and walking a few steps and her mental status is back to being closer to her baseline. 

The Gavel Sisters (nickname hubby gave them because they are so judgemental) went to check out a nursing home that has a skilled nursing bed available. It was quote "everyone was nice, the residents seemed pretty content, but didn't love it, and it's far." 

Ummm... You take what you can get nowadays and if the residents didn't look neglected then consider it a win. I think they're both being pissy because they want something closer to them. Tough. Do what's right and get your mother the rehab she needs. Too bad if you have to drive 45 minutes. You're retired. Both of you. Deal with it. 

Jesus H. They are unreal. But at least they're the ones dealing with it. Hubs and I are staying in our little corner and zipping our lips.

I remember when my mom went to skilled nursing, it was her choice, because there was some things, I as her son she didn't want me to do for her. We got her into a nice one. Sadly, they almost killed her by ODing her on a sedative. The second one was much better, and cheaper.

Happy Thursday.  A long weekend is coming up! Means i see my Husband more... yay!  I kind of like Him.  
 

Just looking at the pictures of the mess those wild storms left behind. So many stranded cars, lots of flooding. We fared okay where we are and it never seemed to get as windy as some places did. Nor did we get hail over here.  Saw one picture where water was high enough to get into a bus. Pictures of people with their feet off the floor. Some pics of pedestrians, just giving up trying to stay dry, happy to be on their feet, i think. 

Personally, i've never seen a thunderstorm last for two hours. Usually, they are here and gone in twenty minutes. That was a crazy storm.  I've never gotten an Emergency Alert on my phone for one either, that made me jump, let me tell you. Nuts.

Glad you weathered the storm okay. While I love watching thunder and lighting, it gets scary when it starts to hail and even scarier when the sky turns a sickly greenish-yellow. That usually means tornado warning. I've gotten plenty of weather alerts on my phone when I was in Florida. I'm happy not to be there this time of year. I looked at their 10 day forecast, hot, humid and thunderstorms everyday. It's typical. The storms roll in during the later afternoon or early evening and come and go pretty quickly leaving it more humid than before.  Today I am enjoying cool temperatures but it's overcast. We haven't seen the sun in three days. 

The sun is supposed to reappear tomorrow, chance of rain Saturday and Sunday is supposed to be gorgeous; mostly sunny and 73F.

Benefits are huge. In our county, we offer the highest wages for phlebotomists. That is, with the exception of the VA. The VA hires phlebotomists as contractors with zero benefits. People that leave us for them soon realize how important paid time off, medical coverage, etc are.

So if you can land a spot with good benefits, do it. It's worth between $10-20K a year, depending on how comprehensive the benefits are.

Then, as soon as you're able, apply for a GS position.

It's kinda the same here.. If you can work for some level of government you are in a union and protected by them.  They get paid better than 'normal' people. So, whether you are a local meter reader or work for the Feds in some capacity, you make more. 

I worked for a bank which are federally regulated but we didn't have a union.  Michael is in the police union even though he is a civilian because of what he does.

Exactly. Those GS positions, once you're in it takes an act of God to get rid of you.
