Happy Monday... finished a sock this morning, started on the second one. Did the banking..  Seamed more of the sweater...i can't handle too much of that..lol.  But i will do it. The sleeves are ready to be attached. Last night I rolled a couple of hanks of wool into balls.. about 870 yards altogether. lol  

Today it's raining dark and dingy.. i was up at 5am.. after 7 hours of sleep, and i enjoy the quiet at that time. i can concentrate on my stuff before life begins..lol.  Dinner today is leftovers so not much cooking needed either.  

I listened to a couple of episodes of Into the Fog with Peter Laws on YouTube, which were super creepy.. geez. 

I bought peaches on Friday and they have all ripened nicely in their paper bag. Into the fridge for them. Had one with breakfast.. mmmm, very nice. I love peaches.  

Anyway.. enough blabbing. I shall go and find something to do... hope you all have a good day!!!

I made a double batch of watermelon-mint lemonade.

Did the laundry. Pickled some beets, and a red onion.

Two-thirds of the potatoes are nearly ready to harvest. As it's been raining on-and-off here, I need to cover them with a tarp so the soil can dry out.

Dry potato skins = less likely to bruise.

Not sure what I'll do tomorrow. More laundry, perhaps. Stone fruits are in season, so I might try making Molly Yeh's Pickled Plum Crisp.

I have decided that when you are stuck in a hospital emergency room waiting on non-life treating tests on your 91 year old mother-in-law that you should be given an ER bingo card.

8 hours in the ER and MIL will be kept overnight and then go a a skilled nursing facility for medical management and rehab. Whether or not she comes home remains to be seen. If she can walk with assistance then we can manage her with help. 

We shall see. It's been a long day.

Well, it's 5:30 a.m.  It's dark and coolish. Humid and we have a fog warning. The fog isn't too bad here, do get the odd pea-souper up this far sometimes. I'm sure down by the lake is a different story.

No real plans for today... some sweater sewing and knitting.. maybe i will do a little editing or writing. I don't know.  

Whatever you do, i hope it's a good day for all of you.

And Chris heads back to work, we head off on holiday.  600km getting us an hour into France.  Tomorrow anther 600 km to the Loire and next day only 400 to Channel tunnel ( though we go through it on Friday). Then to the glorious W Midlands where solid rain is forecast….. 

001 and 002 have been v well-behaved, unlike some wiener dogs we know !

After making it through August with no days in the 90's, we now are dealing with heat dome warnings for the beginning of Sept. Clouds and rain would be welcome at my home. as we have not had the flooding problems, or rough storms; as others near us have experienced this last week. I am looking forward to our next cold front, coming from the North. Sadly we do not have central AC, and I don't want to use my oven, in this heatwave! Take care all who have suffered from the recent weather and power outages, and may more fall like weather return very soon. Do I dare I to even mention climate change? Also wishing @Gary L a safe and problem free holiday! Take care everyone.

Heat domes are scary. We had one earlier this summer, it prompted us to get a portable AC for our bedroom.  It was worth it. We don't have central air either, just a window AC and now the portable one we use at night. 

I mostly use my oven to bake, and then i make several things at the same time and freeze stuff. i watch the weather and try to do that on the coolest days.  We use the air fryer and/or the instant pot if we have to. Summer fare is lots of salads, and things like that.  

I hope you manage to keep cool. Small wet towels kept in the fridge are great to put on your neck. I hope it cools down sooner than later.

That's why I love winter but then last winter was annoying too, we had weeks of snow covered streets, many canceled trains and the suddenly very warm. It's like there's just winter and summer and very short spring and fall

Well, like @Flip-Flop said. Dare we mention global warming?  We sort of have to, don't we?  We are messing with our home and there will be a reckoning.

I completely agree. You can always add a layer. You can only take so much off, especially in public, before you get laughed at, arrested, or both!

I do have a large portable ac for our downstairs area, thank goodness. It has been well worth the price paid, over the years.
