“Oh, Eddie, Eddie, Eddie…,” I said in a sing-song voice. “I’m not going to rape you, my dear boy. I got something worse in mind for you.” When Edward “Eddie” Olsen finally walked in through the front door, I knew my plans had come to fruition. Weeks I’d spent prepping for this encounter, ever since I drove into town, and stopped at the Starbucks this little asshole managed. I smelled the guilt on him. It was overpowering the dark roasted coffee in the shop that day, and then I read his mind

Alright, I think I got this one hammered out. @Solus Magus I can't fully recall, but I believe it was a "Creature of the Night," any of them. Anything that personally scared, you. Then you write from that critter's POV.

The tab marked Editors at the top of the page, in this club.

I've rewritten it about 3 times now. Not sure I'm gonna make the deadline on this one. It keeps turning out like crap... and way too political. (But when you choose a boogieman that can shapeshift, and can read your mind, well....)

In almost every fantasy story, there are non-human humanoid races, running about. From Elves, to Dwarves, to Trolls, fantasy races comes in all shape and sizes. In "universal lore" there are some common themes when it comes to these races. Elves are haughty, and aloof; Dwarves are greedy, and like to dig; Black Skinned Dark Elves are evil, and kill at a whim; and the list goes on from there for standard stereotypes. There are always exceptions to the rule, like Drizzt Do'Urden, Killi, and so on. So, in your writing, do you include these fantasy races? Are they patterned off of universal lore? Have you changed it up, and reworked them to your world? If so, how do they different from the universal lore? For me, I've always been partial to Elves. Though, I try to shake things up, and have them be more down to earth, and fun loving.

This is actually a reason why I write, and why so many of my stories here on GA has a lot of me in them. Either directly or indirectly. Plus, the 30 other stories I have, that I have not, and most likely never will post anywhere.

Yuppers. Every year here in Tampa, and I've been going since the 90's. Met several good authors like R.A. Salvator, and Timothy Zhan. Loads of fun, especially the LARP Vampire the Masquerade.

I think this is a heavy influence. "Normal" people look at ComicCon, MegaCon, NecronomiCon*, and the like, and see a bunch of people dressed up as Japanese Anime characters, and the stigma is born. Not everyone wants to be associated with Trekkies/Trekkers, or even the 501st Legion, either. *A Tampa, FL SciFi-Horror convention.

i have a great Editor that helps me, and that's @Kitt. She does it in her spare time, and she came highly recommended by several people. She's great. But, yes. GA has a lot of volunteer editors who are here on the site. A couple of "tabs" over from Writers in this club, is where you can put a call out for one. I'd recommended a little bit of patience though, for someone might not answer immediately, or might contact you via PM.

Yeah, I don't care about the throne, just the title, and Harry is kinda hot, in my opinion. Though, I would have to renounce my USA citizenship, to be Prince. It's kind of illegal for us to get one. LOL

I had wished that William was gay, and that after we met, I would end up being his Prince. I guess there is still hope for Harry.

I've never done personality types like this, as my knowledge of the subject is super limited. I have a general idea how my peeps will act, and just go with what feels natural to me at the time. As for the scale, I'm an INTP-T.

KH3 had a major preview at the Cons this year. So, I'm expecting it in the next year sometime. I loved KH1 and KH2!

I'm 14 years old going on 40... aka Unbelievable Characters.
Brayon replied to Brayon's topic in Writer's Circle
I know I started this thread about unbelievable teenage characters, and it sorta derailed. I will say this about "Real World" teens: "I've met some Teens, I would have no issues with having a philosophical discussion with, nor seeing them in some sort of leadership position. I've met some PhD holders I wouldn't let take care of a Two-year-old." To me it all comes down to Maturity of the individual, and common sense. In fiction, I just see a disproportionate amount of Teenage protagonists who have their entire life sorted out, and can do anything. Example: Nancy Drew and the Hardy boys. Or Teenagers thrust into Leadership roles, and being successful, when just a day ago they were playing with dolls. Example: Divergent. Or teens that are so angst that their know it all status is solidified, and everyone defers to them. Example: Twilight. It takes a lot of suspension of disbelief to read these works, without developing sever eye straining from rolling them so much. -
Based on my unscientific reading of GA, and other sites for writers, I've seen patterns in what readers like to see from writers. From my perspective, most readers like Modern Contemporary Dramas and Romance. Followed by Mystery, Horror, and Fantasy... my favorite, SciFi seems to be near the bottom of the list. Now in these genres there is a wide variety of character archetypes that Readers like as well, though as it was pointed out in another thread, Teenage characters, or College Age characters abound in the digital spectrum. As writers, do we "go with the flow" and write to what is popular, or "follow our passion" and write what we want? I personally, follow my passion, and write what I feel needs to be told. I have my strengths and weaknesses when it comes to genres, and I try to play to them. I fancy myself a SciFi and Fantasy writer mainly, and Modern Contemporary second. So, what about you guys?

I love the movie Avatar for what it was, and not what the SJWs were trying to make it out politically. I'm looking forward to the sequel, as soon as it gets made, lol. The lore behind the world, plus the level of tech that was involved was awesome. A planet trying to kill you is fantastic.

I've never gotten them, for new topics posted into the forum. Could it be a setting, I'm overlooking, even though I'm set on following the forum?

I think it's now the most reviewed story on the site.

Aside from Will's response, it's a screenshot of the top 23 countries that visit the site, internet traffic-wise. The top 5 being: 1. America 2. United Kingdom 3. Canada 4. Austraila 5. Germany #20 surprised me, being Kenya. If I recall correctly, Kenya is a country where Homosexuality is illegal. Granted my knowledge of African countries is limited.

DOH!!!! It should have been obvious! *slaps forehead*

I loved Louis' internal thoughts as they ran. The feeling of being in the race, the doubts, and the strength to finish the race. Having him help Don get to the end, because of his hand. Loved the little talk that Louis had with James, but I'm wondering what it was now. Excellent job, tim. You should be really proud of how this story. It's a great work of art.

It was another excellent chapter, in an excellent story, tim. Great Job. Also, you got your first Story Review, now that it's complete. That review I did of your story, was my 69th one. So, I guess that means your story is Divine? (69 is divine!)

Changes is a wonderful story that chronicles the lives of Louis and Don, after an accident. It shows the difficulties, and the struggle for to find "normalcy" again. Changes is full of, well, changes. Not only for the two principle characters, but for many of the supporting cast as well. I highly recommend the story. Excellent Job, tim.

My post you quoted, was in response to you, and to another Author on the site, Mr. @William King. The first part was address to you, underneath what I quoted from you. The second part, underneath what I quoted from William, is about a Non-Starter comment he made. Below is what I wrote to You, specifically.
