On occasion, a long-distance love affair becomes reality, bridging the gap between mere fantasy and real-life passion.

(This short story is several years old, but I thought I'd share.)

This fiction sequel to "About Carl" follows the story of Mark, Dan & Carl a few years later. It takes place in the same fictional Selkirk County of Eastern Ontario, Canada. Mark is caught up in a political scandal that puts a strain on his relationship with Dan, while Carl continues to complicate things.

But... he is a mistress (Paramour) of a billionaire closeted married man, Henry Jackson who is possessive of him and treats him like his property. After a strange anticlimactic kidnapping, Axel Graysen is pulled into the tumultuous world of the Wook Family. Axel treats Jeha Wook’s gunshot wound and ends up treating the oddly large team of brothers who work for Jeha. The problem is that Jeha’s people seem like delinquents, and Jeha is the largest delinquent. Axel worries about keeping the man he likes from getting hurt again.

Former policeman Dan and art critic Vaughan’s relationship has an unfortunate start, but second time around they find that life has something different in store for them. Amidst interfering family members and lively friends, their relationship develops. But then Dan’s employer, Francis Heyward starts to take an interest. Heyward is seemingly stupendously rich, a giver of notorious parties and the possessor of an enviable art collection. There’s a question of whether a line should be crossed, and whether Heyward can even be trusted at all.

Carlo no longer needs Karl as his protector, but as a result of something related to his psychiatric practice, he needs his husband Brandon more than ever. I don't believe needing to read that first is a requirement to enjoy this one.
