Poems and Short Quips - 17. Seek Solace

For a certain someone.

Concentration is the given command

Kneeling obediently before me in silent repose

While mental objects like scattered formations

Trip through your mind in disarray

Persistent convictions of doubt and self-loathing

Which imprison you in shackles of uncertainty
Will be shed like armor from your inner core

With each attachment, each insertion, each knot I tie

Liberation will be found in the submission
Succumbing to methods that cause both pain and relief
Quick snaps of leather, slow burn of clamps
Followed by tender touches to ease the sting

Seek solace in my voice, my redolence,
Focus on the repetition of release by my swift hands
Prove your abdication of control to me
By courageously accepting the proffered discipline

Together, we will eradicate the demons that hold you hostage, my boy
- even if only temporarily

Thanks for reading.

These lines:

Liberation will be found in the submission

Seek solace in my voice, my redolence,

By courageously accepting the proffered discipline
Prove your abdication of control to me

Together, we will eradicate the demons that hold you hostage, my boy

They are all about freedom. To me that means freedom from those who haunt me, my past that haunts me. It's about trust too and letting go, which are issues for me. To get into my subspace.. there must be pain..but i wonder then if in being there i'm missing something or hiding.

I know that trust is a work in process for you, tim. Pondering the shackles might allow you to be less hesitant. However, trust can't (and shouldn't) be pushed. Only encouraged. As for your subspace... being able to get there is good because it gives you endurance, but if you're not self-reflecting or seeing the larger picture of the lesson, then you may be missing out on something. It depends on how you feel afterwards: What did you gain? What did you lose? Points to discuss with Mike.

Sir

i've been though this piece more than half a dozen times

each time the first stanza stops me in my tracks

this is how it always starts

While mental objects like scattered formations

Trip through your mind in disarray

this line, says so much

Liberation will be found in the submission

and the demons are kept at bay for a while

and then we are back to the first stanza

you have a way with words Sir

i thank you for sharing this gift

I'm pleased this poem spoke to you, molly. The first stanza is meant to illustrate how scattered thoughts prohibit clarity and peace. For some, being able to focus on methods of discipline slows down the cacophony in the head for a while. As you quoted, liberation can be found in the submission. It's not always the case, and it doesn't always last, but even temporary release helps (and not through self-harm!) I appreciate you sharing your thoughts. I know how deeply connected to this you are.

I needed this for strength. I am so grateful to have Sir and his guidance.

Together, we will eradicate the demons that hold you hostage, my boy. These words and actions hold so much in my life right now. The greatest gift Sir can give his boy. Love and understanding!

That's all anyone needs: love and understanding. It works both ways. Being receptive to the guidance is rewarded. you are surrounded by those who care and offer it, jp.
