A Fairy Out of Her Tale - Dear Diary - 13. Scene 13

In which something bad is about to happen...

8th January, 1995

Dear Troubled Diary,

The interpreter and the nurses have just left. I'm sorry my writing is hard to understand - but my hands won't stop shaking. That interpreter took one look at me, at the wings I no longer have, and told the nurses something very fast and very angry that made the nurses look angry too. One of them took the phone next to my bed and barked orders to whoever answered it. The nurses never stopped staring at me. Only the interpreter turned their back to me and kept facing the blank wall until nurses dragged them out (I was supposed to be the one to look away, but the hospital bed limited my ability to do that, so I guess the interpreter took the easy way out).

When the nurse on the phone was done, they pretty much threw it back in the receiver, and bumped on the bed so forcefully when they walked away that I felt the needle move inside my hand. I cried out from the pain, but got no apology. Just that stare that made me feel worse than fresh shit that has just been stepped on.

I think it wasn't an accident.

What now? I'm sure the interpreter told the nurses about who I am and why I don't have wings anymore. For fairies, murder is punished with life-long exile. But what do shape-shifters do?

The nurses' eyes told me it's definitely a crime here too, or at least something morally wrong.

Are they going to punish me now? What is that punishment like?

Would they kill me?

"And eye for an eye" is definitely something demons do. What if shape-shifters are like them?

One of the nurses is coming back. Some other people are coming with them. I don't know who they are, but they don't look like they work in the hospital.

If I never write on you again, please remember that I love you very much, even if we were only together for a week.

Yours trully,

Nessa

Thanks for reading!
This is the second part of the double update. It's still inspired by the real issues around LGBT asylum, unfortunately.
That said, who do you think are the people coming to see Nessa? What do they want?

The answer will come Tuesday. Unless you would rather become my patron (find out how on my profile) and find out right now, along with the first part of the mystery surrounding the events that led to Nessa's banishment. It's all coming to light now...

See you then!

Interesting arise of events; things seem to be getting on track. I like the idea of the hospital bed, it something that is quite real depending on the individual. It appears as if some serious stuff is about to transpire.

I like how you say "things are getting back on track" followed by "serious stuff is about to happen". :P

The definition of "getting back on track" is highly subjective here, I think... I'm sure Nessa thinks it's exactly the opposite that's about to happen.

Ah, I was referring to the plot development. Though of course for Nessa, shes most likely not thrilled about things getting back on track.
