A Fairy Out of Her Tale - Dear Diary - 11. Scene 11

Rescue is on the way!

5th January, 1995

Dear Diary of Timely Rescue,

My Prince Charming is here! With the white horse and everything - though it’s more like a silver super-comfy car!

He appeared from nowehere, it’s magic!

His strong arms picked me up like a princess and laid me on the backseat of his car. His voice is like silk. 'I'm taking you to the hospital' he said, and I melted. He didn't even ask who I was or what I'm doing alone in the middle of nowhere. We've been on the road for maybe five minutes. It's such a smooth ride! The car seat is the most comfortable bed I've had in forever. I could definitely take a nap here, but Mr Stranger asked me to make an effort to stay awake. He gave me water too, though only a little bit because apparently it can be dangerous to drink all the five litres I could take right now at once. And some candy too. He said he was sorry he didn't have any actual food with him, but I'm gonna definitely get some in the hospital.

Mr Stranger talks to me every now and then. I think he wants to make sure I'm awake. He's asking how I can write with the car moving and not get sick. Apparently people get sick in cars? I didn't know that, though it might be because I can count the number of times I've been inside a car on the fingers of one hand. Mum hated cars more than any other fairy I've ever met.

Also Mr Stranger is not a fairy. He's a shape-shifter. And he told me his name too, but I can't for the life of me remember it or think of how to write it down. At least he speaks my language. He's actually pretty good at it too.

It turns out he has a holiday home in the forest and hangs out with fairies a lot. He was going there when he saw me, and now he's turning back to the city to save my life.

I love you, Mr Stranger!

He made his hair bushy like mine. Changed the colour to purple. Pink now. My favourite colours. This is so cool! I want to be a shape-shifter with pink hair too!

I want to laugh but my ribs kind of hurt? Is it because of the lack of food?

All I can see from the outside world now is the blue sky. No clouds. The sun is somewhere above, covered by the car's hood. I'm glad it's no longer burning me.

I know Mr Stranger said I should stay awake, but I'm so comfortable here. I could close my eyes just a little bit...

Good night, Dear Diary. See you later.

Thanks for reading!
A Prince Charming shows up in a fairy tale… I bet nobody saw that coming!
Who is this Prince charming, though? Is he even going to appear beyond this timely rescue of our “princess”? We don’t even know his real name or what he looks like (though with shape-shifters, can you really know what they look like? How do they recognise each other? Nessa better befriend a shape-shifter who can answer all those questions for us).

Next chapter will be up Friday. Unless you become my patron (link on my profile), which gets you access to a week's worth of chapters ahead of everybody else.
See you then!

Nice of the stranger to do so; I cant see this going three ways. She wakes up strapped to a surgical table for experiments. He takes her home; he is gentle, he gives her a place to stay until she gets on her feet. Lastly, he could just ditch Nessa at the hospital, never to be seen again lol. Though yes writing and falling asleep is a little hmm... she has some mental ability I tell you that; I know once I'm done for the day I'm done. Secretly I think he all want to be a shapeshifter; Imagine the kind of beauties you'd be able to pull.

Well, you got one of your options right. At least for now... ;)

Writing while sleepy sometimes leads the most amusing stories when you look back into it once rested. It's like being on drugs (if you're tired enough, anyway).

If I was a shape-shifter I would have long, flowing purple and blue hair, the "You're worth it Lóreal style" type just because I could. And I would be taller than my current not-quite-1,60m. What would you be like as a shape-shifter?

Awha yay... I'm getting places now lol. And yes the amusing concoctions of creating content when sleep deprived is funny. I remember a while back I was writing a story about a teenager who was the last person on earth; he decides to commit suicide and as he hanging, he believes the world below him is moving, that the burned out cars are driving off under him.

Sounds like an impressive shapeshifter. I think everyone wants to be able to throw their head and say "because you're worth it." Me personally, I think it'd make a great  Demogorgon; I'd like to scare people for personal amusement. Ah I joke, I'm not that evil. Personally, I guess I'd remain the same, but having the ability would benefit me when I need to do the gritty adventures.

That sounds like an... interesting? read... Suicide and all? I'm sure you had fun with that one! ;)

You make a good point. I could scare people for the sake of it if I wanted to. Not that I don't already get weirded out looks from people who can't process seeing a beard and boobs in the same body. Fun times...

Here's hoping you survive the blizzard! And good luck with your own writing too!

Ah, there will come a day when all of this will be like lifting a pen to write your name, or type it or say or just think perhaps. And yeah same to you... I'll get around to finishing the rest of the story later on. :)
