Disasters, Delights and Other Detours - 97. Diverted and Invitation
Diverted
I'm greeted in the morning by the sight:
a dull reflection mimics every move;
there is no picture there, nor image bright,
and now I see how hard today will prove.
Each day is different, yet this simple glance
can change the course of living in a trice
from bleak despair to such a happy dance,
depending whether what I see is nice.
This glass upon the world I call my own
will never heal it's cracked and silvered skin,
unlike a muscle torn, or fractured bone,
beyond the help of medic, witch or jinn.
The unresponsive phone, a lump of clay,
compels me yet to write another day.
Invitation
Now come away with me an afternoon,
to spend in sweet amusement or in jest,
and not until our play shall send us rest
may we be found at ease, entangled, strewn.
For here the moment seems most opportune
to gladly fall in line with your request,
and bid you enter as my welcome guest,
as we in happy contest might commune.
Alas, we know the sun its route must trace;
I beg you join me with my utmost art
ere we rejoin the thousands of our race,
and all too soon, regretful do we part,
so grant me now this one enchanting grace:
the chance to win a portion of your heart.
Should you have a comment or a reaction, good or bad, don't hesitate to leave it here. Anything you have to say will be appreciated.
