Valentine's Day - It's not just a corporate conspiracy!

St. Valentine's Day is drawing near.  While many people don't enjoy the holiday, others revel in the blooming of new love, the sprouting of true love, and the enduring promise of "ever after."  I happen to love the celebration. When I was a teen, I never knew what the poets meant when they'd write about the earth moving and the heavens exploding.  I never really understood how a kiss was that special.  For me it was just a kiss, kinda fun, but not really that big of a deal.  [Mind you,

Grammar Guide 5 - Pronouns

Welcome back! Last week we covered Adverbs and had a great little chat. We also touched on a way to spot "Show vs Tell" using adverb tells. This week, we hit pronouns. A pronoun is a word that takes the place of a noun, usually for added variety and to avoid repetition. Pronouns come in 8 different classifications, almost all of which make good "Words of the Day": Personal - represent people, places or things Examples: I, me, you, he, she, they, her, it, we, us

How Things Turned out a Decade Later

I can't believe it's been a decade since I last updated this blog. Heck, I can't believe it's been almost seventeen years since I joined Gay Authors. Indeed, I see there's a shiny gold "20 years" under the logo now, and it's both gratifying that I was there nearish the beginning and also a bit sad that I've missed most of those years. I've a lot to thank Gay Authors for. It was insanely formative for me as a young person figuring out my sexuality and taking those early first steps out of th

Word Connotations

One of the things that I regret from years ago was my complete inability to understand the language barrier or even the casual slang that people used in their emails or comments when giving me feedback to the newest chapters of stories that I put online. Hehehe, so my apologies if I misunderstood certain phrases or expressions of personal wit and took it as an insult or a criticism. Trust me, I don't do that anymore. Weird, right??? Comsie matured? Say it ain't so, Joe! LOL! Well...not

A New Story

At last, Hidden Secrets is ready to read. I've spent a long time editing, tweaking and getting it just right (hopefully). It's a paranormal mystery, set in a cinema. The story originated as a NaNoWriMo project, but as part of the process it has been altered and extended. Before I began, I never realised writing a mystery was such hard work. In order to keep track of all the threads, I found I had to make much more detailed notes and outlines than usual. I certainly couldn't have written just a f

2021 Reviews Revisited

Our Review Team has put together a list of all the Reviews that they did in 2021. You can click on any of them to see the actual blog. Maybe there was one that you said that you'd read, maybe one that piqued your interest, or maybe one that just looked like it would be a new foray into and different genre. No matter what the reason, here is your second chance to see the Review. Being a New Year, on behalf of the staff at GA and I'm sure all of our Poets, Authors, Readers and every one in be
