Weekly Wrap Up (Nov. 17 - Nov. 23)

    By wildone

Steve has climbed into his cave and don't wake him up until the end of April.  I think it it is @Slytherin's turn to stay awake this winter   That bear just happens to be the colour of outdoors.  We got dumped on the past week. No road lanes, no sidewalks, no nothing. All buried in snow. It is beautiful if you don't need to go out into it  Also, the temperature dropped into the minus celsius without windchill  Winter is here, I hereby declare. May you all share the wonder of it

Caz's Surprise

As I was just starting the day, my aunt and my mum gave me a pack and told me it's for you. The postman delivered it just now, they say. And I don't have to look at the pack, as I happened to have an idea who might have send it. So I just smiled.   Thank you Caz for making my day. I loved the card and the surprise. I know I am going to smile all day. Love you for that.

Miscellaneous Comments Of The Season

Okay, let’s get this clear from the beginning, “I am inebriated.” I have had a double shot of Laphroiag single malt Scotch liquor (it’s one of Prince Charles’ favorite Scotch single malts), an Estrella Jalisco cervesca, two Harvey’s hot buttered rums, a Dos Equis draught, and two double shots of Cazadores Añejo tequila. In the process of becoming inebriated I had a chicken enchilada, a chicken tostada, and a third of a Chicken Milenesa (deep fried chicken breast).   I have had, as usual on wee

Skinny's Sorry

First, I’m sorry if I caused any trouble on GA. That was never my intention.   No one wants to read about another person’s illness, so I’ll make this brief. Last Tuesday morning I went to our emergency room due to strong abdominal pains. After a scan, the ER doctor told me I have stage 4 pancreatic cancer; it had already spread to my abdomen wall and into my liver. I’m a realist, and there is only one prognosis – which is obvious. It’s just a matter of how long.   The rest of the week was sp

All About Me (Just How I Like It) :)

My name is Valentine Davis. Even though I have been a member of Gay Authors since October I consider myself to be a rookie. I always believed that writing was the hardest part of being an author but actually writing a book isn't really that hard, the editing process is. It's also the most painful. You spend so long working on your baby and helping it grow and develop into this wonderful masterpiece and then people critique it and you go from to .   Even though I'm from Indiana (I'm currentl

Calculating Pi... By Hand!

Today, we know π to well over the trillionth decimal place. It is a number that has shown up throughout mathematics, so it is no surprise that mathematicians have been dealing with the number for millennia.   The mathematicians of the Ancient world observed that the circumference of a circle was just over three times the diameter. So, they set out to estimate the value of π… and began a centuries long journey to take π from being “just over 3” to “3.14159265... etc.”   Throug

Thank You All For Your Well Wishes

I just wanted to thank everyone for their wonderful notes and prayers for my mom. November was really hard as my mom first found the lump in her hip and we waiting for her to go have it biopsied, then of course another wait for the results... B-cell lymphoma... the dreaded "C" word. And just before thanksgiving, so more waiting and stressing about just how bad it was and what would happen. Fortunately, last week after her PET scan, we were given the good news that it is in Stage 1 and has NOT

Life In Lowercase

Some people have asked me why I refer to myself as tim - not Tim. Some have been mightly upset that i do (i have trouble writing I rather than i as well).   Many people accept my choice of lowercase, others not so much. Some refuse to write my name that way, saying i shouldn't do it. Well, i figure it's up to me.   There are reasons i do it, most them have to do with how i see myself, how i see the world and how i fit into it. It also has a lot to do with my lifestyle. I live with a very alp

Oh, It's December Again.

HI all.   I figured I would let everyone know I'm still alive and functioning. Just been a bad year.   I have managed to get some stories done. Luckily I did them early. This has been a year of things going boom. My car died. My computer dies. I became a full blown diabetic. I lost 70 pounds. I've been really sick, but I keep going.   I do apologize for not being around. Hopefully things will get better in 2017.   Wishing everyone all the best. Just know I'm thinking of you if not here

And The Band Played On . . .

A fairly effective film about the early days of AIDS from its discovery through the political machinations of its progress through the 1980s.     A story every young gay man and woman should know.

Bullshit 101 - On The Job 2

As a public service, I am going to show you how to detect bullshit. When you hear these phrases, you know that you are in the presence of major league bullshit.   We offer an upwardly mobile career path with competitive compensation.   Bullshit! You'll get laid off before you can make any real money unless management likes you.   Management will only like you if you are a sociopath on par with a concentration camp guard and would cut your own mother's throat to get ahead.   If they want

Bullshit 101 - On The Job

As a public service, I am going to show you how to detect bullshit. When you hear these phrases, you know that you are in the presence of some major league bullshit.   "It's nothing personal..."   When you hear this you've already been screwed without lube and, it's the worst kind of dishonest bullshit.   NOTHING could get more personal than a layoff or a firing. NOTHING gets more personal than a bad performance review or a screwing over via office politics.   So if you plan on using thi

Bullshit 101 - Detection And Evasion

As a public service, I am going to show you how to detect bullshit. When you hear these phrases, you know that you are in the presence of some major league bullshit. "It's not about the money." Bullshit. Everything is about the money. If anyone tells you different, they think you are stupid.

Distractions Abound

So, as some might have noticed, I've been a bit distracted lately. The site news blog sometimes appears late, and/or I forget something that I'm supposed to include in the blog. Or maybe you have sent me a PM and it takes longer than usual for me to respond. And let's not talk about me being way behind in answering reviews for my premium story "Rough Stock Wranglers". Unfortunately, there's so much going on right now, that my mind is going a million miles an hour in so many different directions.

Thanksgiving Thoughts

Well, the 2016 Thanksgiving weekend is upon us...I guess my biggest "Thanks" is for the fact that I'm in generally decent health and I'm still gainfully employed, even if I'm not making too much.   I pretty much worked on Thanksgiving morning, and then I went over to my Vegan Sister's house for a Vegan Thanksgiving. It wasn't too bad. Then today my mother and I cooked dinner for my other sister, who brought her family over. We were able to facetime with my sister and niece who live in Californ

The Fruits Of Grief

Grief teaches us lessons in compassionate love. What we perceive as an unendurable trial later reveals itself as a mighty tool to assist someone else who needs help.   In times of grief take strength that upon its survival you will become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.

Judge Me By My Cover

So let's dive right in and make people angry: I fucking hate most gay fiction book covers and story promo images used online. I detest them. They're shit. I see some ridiculous things, some terrible things, and some things which are generally pathetic. I have beef with people simply taking images from google and shoving them together in paint or Photoshop with no hint of care or artistry. I have issues with shit fonts which look like they were worked in wordart circa 2000. But mostly:   Bolloc

Update On Where I've Been

All right, I think it's about time I sat down and gave everyone the full rundown of what happened. Over the past two and a half weeks I have lived a romance novel as deep and epic as anything I've ever written. I wouldn't have believed it if it hadn't happened to me, yet here I am, and oh what a story it is. It begins three years ago, before I found myself back in writing again. I was twenty-five, almost twenty-six, and trying to figure out what I wanted to do with the rest of my life.
