A Kitten Named Farty-pants

Part 1 - Sheba     When I was almost six I wanted a dog. I didn't want just any dog. I wanted a big fraggin' dog. Big enough to eat bad kids and ride to school.   On my sixth birthday I got a surprise. It wasn't a dog. It was a cute little black kitten with a fuzzy tail. I didn't really want a fuzzy tailed kitten but this one kinda grew on me. And climbed on me. And ambushed my ankles. Stood on her back feet with paws extened like a boxer to challenge me. It didn't take long for her to wi

Amidst the chaos, a voice of reason

Once again, Ron Paul rises above the fray to provide a reasoned and well thought out argument against US involvement in the middle east. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Z6vMAoFwf4     BTW, for anyone who's wondering, the last chapter of If By Chance should be finished sometime this weekend. I know I've been neglectful and I'm sorry, but life has been kicking me in the balls over and over again and it's been hard to catch my breath.

Its been a weird week...

Much less preferable then last week. It started out more or less the same. Monday brings work, then the phone call came. The phone call its self wasn't all that surprising. I have an aunt who has been... existing in Oregon. Living in the trailer park with her husband, and her daughter (who is about a month younger then I) and her 4 (?) kids. Anyhow she has been calling lately, mending bridges she burned a number of years ago with a bad real estate agreement.   My mom has been sending clothes,

A cat named Hitler

You probably won't believe this but it's true.   A few weeks ago, I started noticing that my otherwise fearless Black tomcat Fast Eddie and his mate Sweetie were hiding in the garage. Not only were they hiding, they were a mess: Fast Eddie had notches in his ears and poor Sweetie was missing a big tuft of furr out of her tail.   It's unusual for Fast Eddie to lose a fight. He's a huge Tomcat that could easily be mistaken for a panther.   Over the next few days I noticed: piles of bird fe

I'm an addict for dramatics, I confuse the two for love...

So we're back on the P90X... my body is sore and I want to smack the dude already, but... it works so I'll do it. Rich just said I smell like a fruit roll-up (after exercising for over an hour)... Fruit roll-ups are yummy. We love Rich!   So I found myself in this weird, slightly frustrating conversation at work today with the weird, clingy, slightly creepy girl I work with. Her position was this: She doesn't believe in addiction. Period. She thinks that we are all in control of our lives, c

A question on mourning etiquette.

Jonathan, my good friend who has been living with me, his cousin died today from medical problems. She's had these issues all her life. Over the past few days she steadily got worse and I just heard 10 minutes ago that she died. Question: What do I say or do?   Im taking him out to eat in 20 minutes cause hes been at the hospital hasnt eaten in a while. Then Im guessing back home for a shower or something but after that I dunno. Give him space?   Saying 'sorry' sounds trivial and asking if h

Greetings from Waxahachie

Well, I've been in Texas since early yesterday morning, and I am at the library of all places. They even have Wireless, so I can bring my laptop with me and sign in. I like it so far. The weather is nice. Now I just need to find myself a job and cowboy.

Detached in a better light

Yesterday morning at breakfast I read "The Whore of Mensa" by Woody Allen. It's a nice, short parody of those old dectective stories with an interesting twist.   Last night I had an incredible dream of a fish hatchery tour, worn red brick, a small college graduation, and being much younger, like twenty-one, and looking for an apartment to share with, I think, six other guys. Puget Sound was on the wrong side of Seattle and it seemed more like the Pacific Ocean because of the sand dunes, lighth

Something I don't hate

That's not much these days since everything sucks and the world is circling the bowl.   My library is bad assed. It gives me something that I can get lost in for days.   There's a web site called Library Thing that lets you build a a online database of your books cross linked to user reviews.   You can gaze upon my library in all its glory and despair here.   Everyone should have a database of the contents of their library. It's good to have over and above the insurance purposes. It's i

I lived. No promises on the next four months...

My work, in its infinite wisdom, has once again screwed me over. This is one of the moments I wish I was a little less imaginative, because I can completely understand why they are making the changes they are making, and that they in no way are doing it to "get" me. While the situation would suck no less, irrational anger is fun and makes the time pass.   Ah well. At least the concentrated stress of the last month is over, and we're hitting our natural lull. I can't say I have my life back unt

the aftermath.....

Have you ever had somebody, through their actions, ruin something for you? My brother is the only of my parents four children to spawn grandchildren. I know my hang-ups, I can't say what it is with my sisters... that's a whole different subject. Anyhow seeing as he has the only grandchildren he thinks he can get away with stuff, or dangle the two of them over our heads.   He effectively has me burnt out on children. Knowing this pisses me off at him more. I mean how selfish can you be? How can

Shut Your f**ken Mouth!

So it's been a while huh? Let's see.   The first thing I did on my trip to California was head out to Lake Tahoe with the family. With lots of situations trying to keep us away. Like the car rental place that my cousin rented the car from 2 months ahead of time, and guess what? They rented us the wrong car; we asked for a 4 wheel drive, we got this mini van... So after a 2mile walk which took us about 45 mins in about 40? Degree weather we got back home, did more research and got a Toyota high

Enter the Racoon, killing a habit, killing the crazy

It all started on a Sunday in January 2007. A day I stepped out of the comfortable world I knew and into something entirely different. The following 24 months have been a blur; mostly more of the same, but a trip to San Francisco and to Dallas. Those destinations are okay, what made them special was the people I met there.   The smiles I received, a collection wholly owned by myself, are some of the most precious gifts I could have recieved. The friendships formed, make those smiles so much be

First attempt at 2nd

Okay, it's extremely short, but I intend to write a longer one and post it either in an anthology or in e-fiction, but this is my first attempt at anything in 2nd person. Comments and advice are welcome.   You look at this sleepy town and wonder why you have not left. No one here understands you, so you decide it

In a better light

It's been sunny, but cold the past couple days and the gray gloomies of winter are not affecting me so much. The knee is definitely worse, but I'm going in for an MRI tomorrow morning; the results will determine whether I go to Ortho for further treatment or get a cortisone shot from the PA-C I've been seeing. The exercises are not doing anything except making the knee hurt, but a good sign is most of the swelling is gone.   Depression-wise, I'm still down too much. I need to get back to somet

Blah Blah Blah

I guess it's time to update this thing again.......   Not much to talk about, really. Christmas was mostly uneventful. Kate and I got a bunch of baby furniture (a crib, a bassinet, a changing table and a really nice oak dresser). We both got each other clothes and I bought her some diamond earrings. I was going to get her an engagement ring, but we decided that it wasn't a good idea to make that purchase until we've actually told my folks that we're getting married. A couple months before Chr

Manslaughter?, The Model, Family Dysfunction and Other Randomness

--So this guy I know killed his father. Accidentally. The father had medical problems and they got into a fight which turned physical and he hit him too hard and killed him. He didnt know he killed him and left and the next day he found out when he was arrested. He was put in jail for a few days but was let go for now. So - theres that.   -----What else has happened . . . oh! Uh, met a model who works at Bob's [big Boy]. Names Vianney. Italian. 6'2. Gorgeous. *sigh* Went out a week ago and go

Three more days until life begins again

January 5th is the day I move. I'm excited, because I'm going to have the life I deserve. No longer am I going to be stuck in this stupid town that has nothing for me. No longer am I going to see the same old people in this sleepy town or hear an annoying train two blocks away at 7 o'clock in the morning. I know that if I play my cards right, I can have everything I want within a couple years. I can find a great southern guy to spend the rest of my life with and finally be free from the loneline

What I like most

what i like most about clubs is that it's like a huge ego boost. you walk in, everyone stares at you with no shame whatsoever. 3/4 of the people there are buzzed, at least a third are on something. and no one is subtle. if someone thinks you're hot, they'll let you know.   when i go to clubs, i'm not looking for a relationship. at most, two dances. maybe a phone number exchange, but i'm not going to spend my whole night dancing with one person. tonight was the countdown show and it wa

Thanksgiving to New Years sucks.   It's the time of year for drooling sentimentality that makes me want to slap the shit out of low brow yokels humming Jingle-bells.   I want to murder those bell ringing f**kers at the mall and set them on fire.   Why do I hate the holidays? It's the time of year when your're supposed to get together with old friends. Have a drink or ten, party, make a jackass of yourself- all the stuff I used to be so good at and enjoyed immensly.   What if all your old

Rich held a big erection!

Alright so I got nominated to write this blog because 1) It's been for-f**king-ever since I've blogged and 2) Of the four of us, I was the one who actually has a blog and internet that is easily accessible, so here goes...   So Mike is here visiting! After many first time activities on his part, snowboarding and Christmas in Vegas, and then some awful sounding tour given in Korean and his mom trying to set him up with a 'nice Korean girl' (who happened to be 15 years old) he finally made it t

Regurgitation

All night I had been plagued with explosive releases of pungent abdominal gas until I deigned to open the rear gate and allow a somewhat cohesive mass to drop into the water filled porcelain bowl upon which I sat. As I sat pondering the day ahead an unnatural squirting sound came from my belly. This was no rumbling, but a definite squirt followed another. There was rumbling, though. The rumbling of colonic distress, but I chose to ignore the ominous warnings.   I returned to bed and suprisingl

Like a whattt?

1. Womanizer   I remember absolutely HATING this song the first few times I heard it. I was expecting Gimme More Pt. II and this was so not it. I saw the video, and it kind of made the song for me. This was a really smart choice as the first single because it's loud, it's cocky, and it's addictive. Once I started liking it, I became hooked. 9/10   2. Circus   This is what I expected the first single to be like, it's the perfect description of the album. It's fierce, it's provocative,
