Wonderful news for marriage equality in Australia with an emphatic 'yes' result for the Australia wide plebiscite.

I've started a thread in The Pit on this subject if anyone wants to discuss it. It is, unfortunately, still a political topic in Australia.

Oops! Sorry Graeme - I didn't think of this in political terms.

This is good news regarding HIV:

Quote

Last year, Chris Kimmenez and his wife asked their doctors a simple question. Could Chris, who has been HIV positive since 1989 but keeps the virus in check through medication, transmit it sexually to Paula?

They were pretty sure they knew the answer. Married for more than 30 years, they had not always practiced safe sex, but Paula showed no signs of having the virus.

Their physicians were less certain. “They had a conversation, and they did some research on it,” Kimmenez said. “They came back to us and said there may still be a risk, but we’re comfortable enough” that unprotected sex is safe.

“We knew that all along,” said Kimmenez, 56, who works with ex-offenders in Philadelphia.

Skirting the lines of politics, but I see marriage equality up above so I'll add this.

PrEP, or Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis, has become FREE for all at-risk populations in the province of British Columbia. That means yours truly and all other MSM people, along with intravenous drug users and people who are engaged in sexual activities with people with HIV.

PrEP is a once-daily pill that is taken before exposure to the virus, which reduces the transmission rates of HIV by over 99%.

I can't overstate how exciting this is and how wonderful it is that this becomes free on January 1st.

If something can make you smile, that’s good news in my book.

The only news I have now is australia's so hot right now. Skin cancer is starting to become a fad. Everybody's going to the beach while I'm just swimming on SPF120 and staying indoors at my tub of ice, and beer on a wine flute. Cos I'm fanceh.
