Come on up in the cse of our guys! And we left them still at the apartment in the last chapter, so...

So there is still more New York adventure to come, yes? Thinking positive, I am going ahead and yell YAY!!!

Reading over your comments, and a couple of things in the reviews, I've realized I gave Bradley some of the best lines/actions in the chapter. The actor who ends up playing him in the HBO series better be ready to kiss my butt! :D

Hmmmm, sounds a bit like the old casting couch here Carlos ;}

Bad news for Carlos - the extremely busy writers will not have time for the casting couch stuff - that is left to the Producers :)

Casting couch, casting chair, casting bar stool... let's not get too tied down to one location.

Are you angling for a job, Buck? Maybe while we're on location in Australia? Mate, remember what happens during that scene on New Year's Eve. Are you willing to :D?

Damn! I guess I just told the world we'll be in Oz on the last night of the year!

Whoa whoa whoa Carlos, you get all super speedy with the updates and I don't have enough time to come up with the snarky comments!

No but seriously I saw your comments hoping nobody minded that you posted twice in a week and I'm just thinking are you kidding? Mind? If somebody does mind they just need to stifle the complaints.

Anyway, good stuff as always. Bradley was barely in the chapter and still he got some of the funniest lines. Uh oh... going back to what I said before about your foreshadowing being buried in silly comments by the characters... That's it, foreshadowing CJ is going to star in a video with Sean! ...Well wait a minute, CJs only 15... hmm that'd be a little awkward to say the least. Ok ok that theory doesn't seem like it'll pan out.

In case Carlos, didn't tell you, and I'm positive he has no idea, I am Sean's agent/manager. Any video with CJ would likely have to go through me first, and while both parties may be agreeable, at this time the age thing presents a problem. Then there's the mighty marine I'd have to worry about. However anyone else you have in mind......call me.

short pause in my reading...don't want to forget this.

Mate, how the hell do you borrow booze? Are you planning on returning it?”

:read:  :o   :P  :gikkle:

The emo progression was outstanding!

I often wish I knew what leads to lines like those. I try to make my characters' dialogue realistic (Mann helps by slapping me around when I make them sound silly), When a particular comment can make readers want to pause reading so they can say something about it, it makes my day. Thank you!

Well, we certainly can't have that. Snarky comments help keep me thinking on my feet.

I think I'll pass on the porn. Could you imagine Brett's reaction? :D

Chipper, Brad and Paddy heve yet to be entirely settled in my mind. CJ and Harley are done, I know who they are, Thiago's almost there, he'sstill surprising me a bit, but I have a good grsp on the character. The three newer boys are still working on me. I'm looking forward to what they will become.

Have you ever seen a photo of Sean?

Damn! I alwasy drool when I write his scenes, that's why I can't have him be a full-time cast member!

I'm not certain what possesed me to create him. I needed a quick roll in the hay for Doc, to help him bounce back after Chip. The drama of that man being the brother of Chip's boy toy was too good to resist and since Ian was a ginger... The sex worker bit seemed as a good balance to Chip's stuffy banker image. You know, ying and yan. Turned out to be a good guy, so he earned himself a small recurring role. I already have him playing a big part on a future plot line so we'll see all the red fur again :D

Sadly no one comes to mind. I mean I'd offer my own services but somehow I don't think I'd be quite as much of a draw as dear Sean...

I'm always happy to offer my assistance in your writing process by supplying a running commentary

Also, yes I totally pictured Brett's reaction to that scenario and its probably a good call on skipping that porn idea bud. It'll save us all the senseless carnage.

The problem with this theory it that characters have a tendency to take on a life of their own and whisper, well sometimes shout, in the author's ear, forcing an unscheduled and un-signaled turn in the plot. Sooner or later CJ will do something and Carlos will read the paragraph over and all he will be able to say is "Well DAMN!"

Tou're sooooo right. Cesar was supposed to be the hot headed Cuban with the temper and Brett was meant to be the chill California surfer dude. Surprise!

That's one of the fun things about creating characters is that they can evolve as you go through drafts and they can take on an identity of their own. The reason Brett works as he's written, to me, is the fact that he's a Marine. He goes into papa bear mode sometimes and it just fits how I'd picture somebody making a career in the Corps.

Hey Carlos

I've missed a couple of reviews, so sorry about that - really gotta hate when life interferes with GA reading and reviewing...Grrr

Anyway, aside from witnessing the camaraderie between the boys - which was great - the one thing that has been rolling around my head is the situation with Paddy.

I feel for the kid with all that he has had to deal with. I guess being younger and of a different personality than Brad, he hasn't had an easy time of dealing with everyone knowing his dad is gay. Then again, his peers are his age so maybe they need some time to grow up too...

One thing I am glad of is that he bested his mouthy cousin. If the cousin had won, he would no doubt be bragging to the other neanderthals in the family. I'm thinking that the boys have distanced themselves from their grandfather and uncles, but winning the fight would say something about his 'manhood' in their eyes. Which, at this point, is important for his coping skills.

He's obviously still quite lost - evidenced in his need to be close and reassured by his dad - but, I think that weekend with the men and boys probably helped him quite a bit. It will be interesting to see what he is like the next time he visits.

I love reading the reviews, but readers are under no obligation whatsover to leave them. Do not feel bad. Whenever you do leave one, know it's very much appreciated.

The level of maturity between 13 year olds and 16 year olds is significant in my experience. CJ, and to a lesser degree Chipper and Bradley, are being written as slightly more mature than average, their personalities derived from actual teens. Hell the ones I'm using as guides are more mature than many guys in their twenties.

The one thing I won't allow my boys is to whine. I recall being in a car with my best friend, our husbands, and her young daughter returning to Miami after spending a few days in Key West. Typical kid, Alanna started complaining at some point, Jamie turned to her and asked what the rule about whinning was. The kid replied it wasn't allowed and shut up. That little girl is in her mid twenties now and we were having grown up conversations when she was a teen. More than once I saw her handle her friends' whining in a similar manner.

That degree of maturity is what I'm shooting for. Might not be entirely common but I think it's more evident in kids raised in large urban environments. Boston might be a big city, but the boys seem to lead a somewhat sheltered experience. Paddy's not ready to confront his peers yet, but he'll get there. Anyway, I'm leaving those guys alone for a bit, I'll return to them after the gang returns to Australia. By then the Boston boys should be up to their arse in snow :D

Not sure I am going to mention this but briefly in my review, so I will say it now -

I am very impressed with the way in which CJ dealt with Lourdes. That she was surprised by his attitude towards her was surprising - clueless much? Loved to that the dads' were there in the background letting CJ do his thing, but ready to back him up if needed.

A confrontation with Colonel Dickhead might have been worthy of the price of admission, but I think there were other more positive events that needed a voice in this chapter - which they were, thank you.

CD best be left ignored and forgotten gathering dust somewhere....

I think clueless is a perfect way of describing Lourdes. Although what she allowed to happen ends up being the best for CJ, she's failed to realize she lost her son when she didn't stand up for him against CD.
