Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years.

No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:

- Knowing when to come in out of the rain;
- Why the early bird gets the worm;
- Life isn't always fair;
- And maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.

It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death,
-by his parents, Truth and Trust,
-by his wife, Discretion,
-by his daughter, Responsibility,
-and by his son, Reason.

He is survived by his 5 stepbrothers;
- I Know My Rights
- I Want It Now
- Someone Else Is To Blame
- I'm A Victim
and
- Pay me for Doing Nothing

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone. If you still remember him, pass this on. If not, join the majority and do nothing

that's wonderful!

thanks for sharing it

Rest in peace, Common Sense. May Reason and Responsibility rise up to the vacant space that their father had left in the world.

Let's not forget the passing of his twin brother, Common Courtesy.

I've seen this before. It's made the internet rounds for a while. Just as true today as when I read it the first time.

Ok, I have come to the conclusion those signs on the side of the road that have numbers ( 55, 65 etc) are speed SUGGESTIONS. I was driving thru a fairly large town and peeps were passing me like I was standing still.

I have a bit of a lead foot. I'm guilty.

Pain sucks. Hope you feel better tomorrow. Dog cuddles are a balm for any ailment.

Just a quick note to let you know I'm doing ok. Dad's funeral is tomorrow. It's still likely to be a few weeks before I'm back properly as I'm the executor and I've got so much to do.

Take care and keep safe.

Chris xx

If you need me for anything PM me.

Glad to hear from you. We miss you. Hang in there, my friend.  xo

Drivers here are worse than usual. Since the streets are quieter they have become racetracks ... What exactly has to happen to bring out the good in people?  Doesn't seem to be pandemics ...

I've got to stop speed reading.  I processed this as sit with a 🌭, blanket, and Tylenol and I got hungry and thought that a hotdog sounded real good. Sometimes this getting older really sucks! LOL

I always get up between 2am - 3am to go to the casino to play poker. This morning I rolled over, had to pee, got up at 202am and decided it was time to loot the players at the casino.

It's weird, I had one of those teenage feelings, like I was immortal and nothing could ever happen that would be bad. I wasn't sure what to do with that feeling but on the way to the casino I was driving on the Baltimore Washington Parkway. It's a 2 lane each way road, in a park like setting. Large medians, treed. You get the picture?

There was practically no traffic on the road today for some reason and as I was eating my Tastykake chocolate cupcake, doing about 75mph (speed limit is 55), a motorcycle went zooming by me. Not sure exactly why but I decided to chase that motorcycle. Now, I have a Chevy Sonic, with a 4cyl engine. Not exactly a racing car. It's got a digital speedometer and I was practically entranced watching it go up and up. 80, 85, 90, 95.

Then I started to think. Not really about my speed as such but I wondered to myself, did that speedometer have 3 digits? Or would it just stop at 99mph? I decided that I may as well see and pressed the accelerator down. Well, I found out it does indeed go to 3 digits. I got up to 106mph, then it stopped accelerating.

I was finally catching up some to the motorcyclist although he was probably a mile ahead of me when I saw flashing lights, a cop car had given chase to the motorcyclist. My exit was coming up the next one so I slowed to a more reasonable 80.

When I got to the casino I was exhilarated. I hadn't been that fast since I did a driving course at Daytona. I was quite literally tingling all over. For a minute I thought about just going back home and waking up the boyfriend to take care of the tingling but he's so grouchy if he doesn't get at least 7 hours of sleep.

Unfortunately the exhilaration didn't carry over to poker. I got there around 225am, left at 630am. Was up exactly $31!

I fully understand the exhilaration of speed. Spent a huge portion of my 20's either at the local stock car raceway or in the shop in prep for the weekend.

There is, however, a huge difference between a limited access highway at 2 am with reasonably light traffic and the three lane divided local highway in what qualifies as a small city during heavy rush hour traffic. One idiot passed me, then proceeded to weave in and out of all 3 lanes. Counted 7 cars cut very tight before I could no longer distinguish which car was him.

Ok peeps, explain to me why a place like Red Robin closes at 7 pm due to covid? There is no curfew on restaurants in our area, and I don't really understand such curfews anyway. Is covid more contageous after 8 pm?

i think they close early to give the staff a chance to thoroughly clean & sanitize the place.

I would have gone home and let the boyfriend take care of the tingling. He could take a nap later.  But I'm selfish like that. 🤣

Sometimes it's staffing too.  They will stay open through dinner rush and then close
