Also remember to burn the debris before the birds start nesting, or you may end up frying eggs. Every year before the midsummer bonfire we're warned not to start building the bonfire pile too early, or to demolish and rebuild in order to find and remove any bird nests. 3 5

Which I am aware of. I remember years ago having to leave a huge pile of branches left over from hedge cutting on the smallholding I used to own standing all summer before I could burn them, as a pair of blackbirds had decided to build a nest in them in the early spring. At least by the time I did get round to burning them they were well seasoned, so it wasn't difficult to start the fire. 7

Not just birds... my BFF had a momma cat and kittens live in one of their brush piles. They didn't see the cats for a while, so thought they had left and burned the pile... turned out one of the kittens had been left behind. Thankfully, she was able to save it and got it to the vet immediately. It ended up losing its tail, but she kept the kitty and had him for quite a few years before he passed away. 6 2 1
Site Administrator Popular Post Valkyrie Posted January 21, 2021 Site Administrator Popular Post Posted January 21, 2021 So it turns out I don't have a CPAP... I have an APAP! The tech went over the set up and how to use it, so I'm all set for tonight. Fingers crossed I can actually sleep and wake up actually feeling rested! 6

Blacksmith came today, and I have a cardiologist phone appointment on Friday. I managed to get quite a bit done after the blacksmith left, but my body is so sore... I'm either working over my head or down on the floor. My son would like to move his girlfriend's stuff in by the end of next week. You need an old clawfoot bathtub like I have at my home in PA. It's a wonderful place to soak tired bones. There were many a cold winter's evening that I would run a tub of hot water with bath salts, light a candle, put on some soft jazz and soak before crawling into bed for the night. 6
