Sorry to be away for the day. I tried to post something quickly before I got on the plane, but I got an error.

 

1. I noticed that someone else has brought up the issue of the boys going to Hawaii. As that is where the porn site was located, there is the potential for problems for them as a consequence. A lot depends on how much time until they fly out. If it's not too long, they'll be gone before anything can happen. Otherwise there is the risk of Thaddeus or the Piedmont sheriff finding out and making some trouble by linking the two.

 

2. I have never accused Steve of doing anything maliciously. He's been consistent in his playful endeavours to get Chris to wear speedos as much as possible. What I was objecting to was that level of those endeavours was approaching manipulation. especially considering Chris's dislike in being seen in public like that (swim meets excepted -- Chris noted that exception in an early chapter) AND especially after the issue with the web cams. By setting up the situation so that Chris had little choice, Steve was pushing the boundaries of what I would consider to be healthy. I don't think he crossed that line (just), but he certainly didn't make me like him for what he was doing. It is only because he's been consistent with earlier behaviour and the fact that they love each other so much that I don't actually hate him -- he's been unthinking, not uncaring.

 

3. Antipodean means the other side of the world. It's usually used by the English to refer to the Australian cousins, as Australia is almost diametrically opposite England on the globe. Maritius doesn't qualify as the Antipodes....

I can see where greame is comming from, Steve's actions can most definately be constrewed as manipualation of a sort. However, I never read it that way. After the first speedo incident, it seemed to me like a game between Chris and Steve, who could out-smart who, and who was thinking two and three steps ahead of the other.

Especially since they won't be able to bring their weapons along, and this mysterious BlackHeart could be hiding somewhere. He knows what they look like whereas they don't have a clue as to what HE looks like.

Nope i don't live on maui, i live in ohau, the wonderful town of honolulu.... Ugh and i can't wait to get out of here, if i ever do hehe =D

 

I've only been there a few times, and that side of Oahu is indeed crowded. A beautiful area though, and Honolulu international airport is my favorite out of all the ones I've seen. I drove up the coast to the north shore and spent most of my time on Oahu there; some great places up north.

Just an observation here, NOT a spoiler (so , please, no spines!! ) but Chris didn't note an exception for swim meets and water polo games, he noted one for being stuck in a front yard:

I swore I'd get him for this, some way, some how. I wasn't all that shy, hell, I'd participated in plenty of swim meets and water polo games, but being stuck in Veronica's front yard, in full view of the whole damn neighborhood in just a tight pair of Speedos was making me feel decidedly uncomfortable.

This I shall argue furiously, as I believe, sir, that your argument is intentional obfuscation, aimed squarely at hiding the antipodean conspiracy!

Hrmmmm... Could a contributing cause be that we just naturally assume that anyone named Steve is evil?

 

As an interesting side-note: When I was writing the first pool-party, I WAS worried that one of the guys would come across as taking it to far, even bullying a bit; Chris, for "drowning" Steve in the pool, via physical force.

I guess a lot of people guessed Eric's parentage, because he was being called a "bastard" here in the thread long before the chapter where that was revealed.

 

BTW, a quick note on scheduling and chapters.

FTL 31 should be online as soon as I get it back from Bondwriter, our zeta-reader (who catches any post-edit goofs that I make).

After that, though, we might be looking at some delays. FTL 32 only went to Shadowgod (our anonymous beta-reader) yesterday, and FTL 33 is barely half-done. I wasn't able to do any writing while on vacation, and that, plus real life (preparing for the vacation regarding my work) chopped into my writing time. So, my "buffer" of ready-to-post chapters is gone.

 

Another reason for the delays is that I've been working on my next serial (Let the Music Play) a bit so I'll be able to post its first chapters alongside the final ones for FTL, and I also spend some time working on something that was just approved today for the anthology: Category 5. This will be my third time in an anthology here at GA, and I'm very excited about that.

 

I'll do what I can to minimize any FTL posting interruptions, but I just wanted to give everyone a heads-up as to the reasons.
