We'll have to wait and see who's at the door. That's a good idea about transitioning into different races. Devin did that on occasion when he was looking for the rapist, because it made him more difficult to see when he was prowling around in the dark. He may think of doing that again, only this time in the daytime as well. Thanks for pointing that out .

The song lyrics had a dark undertone to me. Whose ship is there and where are they?

A compelling story told with empathy. Life is not always or even often easy, but with the support of family and friends it can be memorable. The pacing, transitions, characters are all well written. I just jumped into reading the first chapter and finished it in a couple days. Thanks to jdonley75 for sharing this gem!

The signs weren't good and Pete's instincts were pretty solid. In the end, Mitch was trying to take advantage of a younger boy and only partially pulled it off.

Another good chapter. I don’t think someone at the door is a big cliffie. I’m sure it will be someone attempting to spread the Word. Idea man here. There are a huge number of ethnic groups they can transition to for their rescues. One time black, another hispanic, then oriental, Indian, the list goes on.

Dallen showed unexpected levels of maturity on more than one occasion in this chapter. I feel like someone needs to take time to get to the root of Karen's behavior. She needs help and not just guys that are willing to go along with her. Story flow is really damn near perfect.

@Thomas Wells All three parts of the saga are well worth your time. If you haven’t read Spirit Wolves yet, I’d recommend reading that next. A huge amount of Light at the End of the Tunnel revolves around Caleb trying to redeem his actions in book one. It was touched upon in Shadow, but barely.

Dallen is a pleaser in a number of ways. Not sure I would go as far to say he is a submissive, but he is clearly a guy that wants to please other guys. I don't think just sexually, he likes helping others and letting them lead. He may find areas that he wants to lead in, and should, especially if he turns out to be someone that has a touch of the medicine man ability or more. Truly an interesting story.

Mateo seems like a lot of fun on several levels. I hope that Dallen and he continue to be friends and that friendship grows in many ways. Dallen has been a little sheltered, but his friends will make sure he is ready to face the world coming up. The ceremonial tomahawk is very symbolic, and the fact that Dallen keeps seeing the Ghost Cat is as well.

Hey, I have to leave a cliffy every once in a while to see if you're paying attention. And gaining the license plate number wouldn't have mattered. Her rescuers walked away and Mac drove the SUV, and the deputies saw the SUV when they returned to their campsite later, so they might have noted the license plate number too. Oh, and good ol' Louella Haskins can do all the snooping she wants and she wouldn't find anything.

Dallen's mother is much more perceptive than he gives her credit for. I loved how tied into nature Tocho and Dallen both are; and the fact the mountain lion is getting that close and allowing them see her/him is something else.

Yep, and hopefully they won't have accidentally duplicated someone else's fingerprints.

Interesting start to the story; I am glad that Pahana's mother was okay with Tocho staying the night. Seems like Dallen was telling the truth and his mother just never thought it was possible. LOL. Can't wait to see how this progresses.

She stays late and refuses their offer to drive her home and then gets abducted when she leaves the cab. Yes suspicious. She is shouting from the background. Hmm. Evidence of her real identity is being collected but not yet available. Three against one believe she is fake. Important clues or just red herrings? Will Joe need to call in his associates? The extortion call has been made so time is running out.
