timmy's poetry - 8. Dogs

To all our dogs who have passed from this life but not our hearts.

For Leppy, Mallory, Bella, Ripley and to those I don’t know ..

Dogs

They fill your life completely

You think they’ll never go

But all too soon it’s their time

It’s all just part of life’s flow

And now your heart is broken

the silence is deafening

you’re sure she’s up on the bed

When you reach, there’s not a thing

Many suffer at our hand

But still they love and forgive

Pure of heart; they are faithful

And with us they choose to live

We each still miss them every single day

In our hearts they’ll forever reside

Laughter and tears they brought; along with joy

In other words, dogs are love - simplified

Thanks for reading.

All the "dog people" know exactly what your poem is about. Our Gus is probably not going to be with us much longer, and the family is sad about that. Your poem really captured the relationship between a person and their dog. Thanks.
