timmy's poetry - 66. Lessons

for you, and to any who find peace in them

he

his soul is a restless place

seeking, searching

never long full

but ever full of longing

he reaches out

to hands inaccessible

to an equal heart

ravenous and ardent

with a love that is

there, but not

yet the universe teems with it

and the universe disavows it

he wanders a path parallel

and he sees

he yearns

begs

but there is only knowledge

and words written in a lonely room

yet those words bring love

hope

and somehow peace

you

You are a ghost suddenly

Go and come, silent but for moments

I babble to you hoping to catch you

Touch you

While you float above; observing

you leave echoes when I’ve given up

and gone

then

the past teems with the ghosts of ourselves

parts of us we’ve chopped away and on

melancholy days we stop and stare

wondering how we were ever that person

if we’re wise we take that ghostly lesson

learning but then filling those boxes

with the skeletons we no longer wear

close the lid and nail the fuckers shut!

now

Happiness sounds simple

But keeping that ember alive

Requires kindling

Love

It needs determination

Awareness of self

And belief that we alone, are happy

Beautiful, like snippets of time on an unusual time piece. The four together put me in mind of Dali’ s , ‘The Persistence of Memory.

he has such memorable lines; these especially stick with me -

his soul is a restless place...

...he reaches out

to hands inaccessible

to an equal heart...

...the universe teems with it

and the universe disavows it

he wanders a path parallel...

I read and re-read and re-re-read this, looking at it as a faceted diamond in perfect light.

you appealed to the sense of observation, and brilliantly so, floating above, beside and around.

then reminded me of a musical scherzo, maybe because it seems to have a faster tempo, or perhaps there is the sense of possible freedom from ghosts and skeletons.

If the previous poem was a scherzo, then now may be a brief rondo; the recurring search for happiness likened to nurturing and rebuilding the flame of love.

Each of these spoke to me in your own unique voice, and wonderfully so.

Okay, so you didn’t write all four of them today, Still, that’s quite the accomplishment in the eyes of this reader. I am impressed.

A lot of self-reflection and unrequittedness in this poem.  I like it.

interesting .. yes self reflecton but the love isn't unrequited, it is there but so very far away in a sense .. thank you for your insightful comments Ashi.. xox

I think I was meant to have missed these. Chapter 78 ... you say goodbye. ...no more poetry.  Then I'm drawn here. Have you read these, boy?  They speak, in your clear beautiful voice. How can it be silent? Is your soul really silent?  Take some time, get outside, reconnect,  but never, never say never. xoxo
