timmy's poetry - 69. For dughlas and Thief of Words

Normally i don't save the birthday poems i give people, but i rather like this one, it deserves to be kept. The second, there are people who steal words so i dealt with them too ...

1. For dughlas

You see beauty in a summer's day

And majesty in snow's crystal design

Autumn's colour takes your breath away

And spring's resurgence is divine

Would that words anew will come

To inspire you to put pen to page

While roses lie in wait to blossom

As around you winter storms do rage

No matter if you choose otherwise

For with you we gather and say

While cheering you with happy cries

We love you dugh! Happy Birthday!

2. Thief of Words

Like stalkers they follow you

Running here and there, watching

Sharpening teeth and claws

Waiting

To pounce

To steal your words, for they’ve none

of their own

Rotting elves, dressed in finery, lace,

and awful hats.

***************************************

dugh, thank you for your support and continued friendship, it means a lot to me ... xoxo

thanks for reading everyone!!

tim, the Birthday Poem was gorgeous. You can tell how much you value dughlas' friendship in it. Splendid.

As for the second one. It strikes a chord with me as well. It feels like an author who has found their story was taken by another. I don't know the circumstances behind why you wrote it, but I'll stand behind you in support. (Also, the imagery of the elves, was cool.)

What a lovely tribute for a sweet and lovely friend. :)

Beautiful words tim, and I feel how deeply they are meant.

As for the second, I hope it doesn’t mean someone is, literally, stealing your words. Waste of time, though, because only you can do them justice.

Nicely done, tim, nicely done.

These are both lovely; through you, we all greet a special friend. And in your second poem, you help me respond to situations and circumstances which often conspire to keep me from putting pen to paper. Thank you for sharing these.
