timmy's poetry - 52. Please Slam the Door

Where do these moods come from?

Pills are supposed to smooth the lumps

Yet sometimes the drugs don’t override

And I can feel all the painful bumps

I try so hard to control the slide

As I lose purchase on the floor

This chute has no handholds

Can someone please slam that door?

Depression is like gravity

It just wants to hold you down

I don’t want to give in, not today

Can we please make a stop midtown?

I fight back with gentle humour

As it works better than big guffaws

Though it slows the process, I know

Life today will be viewed through gauze

But I hope the fog will clear off

Cooked away by warming the soul

Getting up and getting on with it

Before melancholy can take control

Have a good day ... don't let gravity hold you down ..

.... and sometimes we laugh until we cry .... and sometimes gravity's so strong you can't even lift your head. Beautiful work.

Picture in your minds eye, the one who loves you most, no matter what. Keep doing that, and I know you'll smile, which will bring good thoughts.

Depression is a beast. It takes a lot of strength to smile through. Take care of yourself, timmy.

the chute may not have handrails, but raise your arms, and you find a hand or 12 to slow, hold, and love you. to help you fight gravity.

May the gentle rays of autumn sunshine burn away the fog and warm your soul. One thing about gravity, while it weighs you down you know your feet are still firmly set upon the ground.

thanks dugh ..

tim, you wrote a sublime poem. Not only do you describe a dark and slippery kind of hurt so well I can feel it, you also approach part of an antidote with such gentle ease. This is quite marvelous.

thank you so much Parker .. it worked too .. i did slide down the whole way!
