timmy's poetry - 50. September Winds

was feeling rather melancholy this morning ... but it passes as does everything...

September winds are blowing today

Bringing feelings of melancholy, of change

Each day is another day closer

My future gets shorter each year

The wheel just keeps on turning

Rolling over us come what may

I smile and realize nothing really matters

Only this moment and each breath I take

I know I’ve touched some people’s lives

As they have affected mine

But what good are those memories

When I’ve lain down for the last time

Does history teach us anything?

As we look forward rather than back

We just pile bones on bones

It’s not the future that we lack.

There’s no answer to these questions

Never have been and never will

Live only for the time you’re here

Old dust will our footprints, quickly fill

Your melancholia seeps through. I hope it doesn't last long. You've  made a huge impact many people. You've changed a lot for me too..possibly more than I've shared. So when you ask what good are memories, as much as I'd like not to think about it, I can only tell you it will be hard to forget someone who leaves you with so much. And that's more than just your writing tim..

Love you, xoxo

Rather forlorn tim. Your words flow softly but express deep questions and emotion.  The wheel of life is not meant to roll over you. You're walking on the wrong side. You can't live life by trying to stay ahead of it. Instead think of it as a hamster ball where you travel inside. A life powered by your exertions. Sometimes frantic other times not.

You're not the only one with memories of your life. Others have them too. So when you lie diwn that last time their memories remain. Then you and I differ in our thougts of what comes after.

Namasté little brother.

always been on the wrong side then i guess.. cuz i'm on borrowed time .. i dont know why i think about this stuff because it just doesnt matter not really.   thanks dugh xo

Such deep feeling and questions. I think everyone contemplates these things. However, the illness we share I think makes us think of this more. Live in the moment. Know that people like me love you. Yes, you have made a positive impact on people's lives! xoxo

yes anyone with a chronic illness like HIV or worse likely does  .. living on borrowed time it feels like .. but again, it doesnt matter in the long run.. .we're here and then gone.. we leave behind us the detris of our lives .. some of it may be seen... but why do i care, for i will be long gone.

We can be here for a hundred years, and have nothing to show for it. But you, my friend? You're way ahead of the curve in just a third of that time. You have shown us different ways to look at our world, and have done so with the honesty of your beautiful and compassionate soul.

Through your words, you have shown me and many others what is important in this one life we are given. We ponder and contemplate thanks to the teachings in your words.

Some may know with more certainty when their time will be up, but no one knows what will happen in the future to maybe alter that certainty. If I was in charge, I know what I would alter...

:hug::hug::hug:

....

As always...well, you know the rest :)

thanks Reader ... i just havent been feeling well ... and it feels bone deep..xoxo

I think we all wonder what legacy we'll leave behind when we're gone. What will we be remembered for? Who will do the remembering? These are natural questions. With your prolific writing and animated personality, it is no doubt to me that your legacy will be memorable, tim - but you have a long, long way to go yet.

a lot to say and just a short time in which to say it ... i think that's my truth... and people will remember what they will .. but i'll be too dead to care... so really the questions are moot, Sir.  i appreciate the kind words.

You think about it because you're human and life has often been unkind, even downright malicious. Yet you persevere. Your time may be short, that was an estimated prognosis. You can lament it or live it. Your choice. Like all of us you to not know when your time will come due.

tim, I love you, you know that. I think you're feeling a bit of self-pity. It's not unwarranted just rarely helpful. As it changes nothing. Just be aware so you do not become mired in it. Okay enough of the stern big brother. Blessed be little brother.

Love you too. Maybe so. Just have been feeling so unwell. I want to do little but sleep. But there are things to say. Ill try not to be so morose.

I've said it before, but it bears repeating. If writing about it, and sharing that morose (or whatever else you need to let go of) with us, your friends, helps you shed it - even if it's just a little bit - then do it. We'll gladly help you carry your load.

Apologies for that very long second sentence. The thoughts just spewed out of me, and couldn't find a proper place to go...
