timmy's poetry - 15. A Moment

Inspired by MacGreg's beautiful poem...it touched me very much...

They were star-crossed but unknowing

Until the fates and universe played their hands

Letting them collide in bright flashes of pure light

Passion immeasurable - desire unmatched

Though their thoughts touched, fingers could not

And hearts beat and tears were shed

This day, the world would not be - would never be theirs

Their moment, would only ever be, just that.

I couldn't get Mac's poem out of my head. Hope you don't mind your work being the muse for this: https://www.gayauthors.org/story/macgreg/poemsandshortquips/12

A poem that tears at the heartstrings. Took me a while to get here and comment. Well done. As always, you are the adroit poet. I feel honored that my poem provided you inspiration for yours, but sadness compounds sadness. It's a good thing writing is so cathartic. Cheers, my friend - Mac

This is such a great image of the power of connection and the sorrow of missed opportunities. It immediately called the song "The People That You Never Get To Love" to mind. Excellent - J

Everytime, tim.

Every. Darn. Time.  Your words reach deep.  It's sad, but beautiful.

Did you ever see the movie Ladyhawke? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089457/?ref_=nv_sr_1

They were cursed to live together, but always apart. She had to live as a hawk by day, he a wolf at night.  But there was a moment, twice a day, when they could almost touch.  The last stanza (is the right term?) is that movie.

Thanks again, tim.  :hug::heart:

It's beautiful tim, amazing the power of words.

I dont have good memories of poetry in school (too long, too complicated...) but reading pieces in forums made me curious to read more and I'm happy to have start my day with this one. I dont find it sad, bitter sweet maybe but not sad.

Thanks clo. I appreciate you reading but i really appreciate that you are giving poetry a chance. It is bitter sweet but we often cannot have what we so desperately desire. Thanks for reading.. if ever have questions about poetry.. ask or feel free to post on the Live Poets Society forum. xo

The moment of pure light, of radiant brightness, and then the grey again. You make this come alive in its sadness and pain.

Thank you Parker. To me it has to be horrible to be so close and yet are never able to meet . I wonder how often it happens. Thanks you for reading xxoo

Your poem was beautiful. I didn't write this until i'd gone to bed. Couldn't get the image people separated by geography and circumstand out of my head. How sad.

Writing is cathartic, but only if you're able...

My heart yearns for that spark, that moment that seemed to never be ... that they would finally connect, despite the odds, despite everything ...
