timmy's poetry - 54. South

not enough to do at work ...

South

Just saw a monarch on its way

Down south to Mexico to stay

Safe and warm while nature plays

Games with the weather

Soon it will be all-day gray

And we will start to pray

The sun will come and stay

As we huddle together

Lovely poem, tim. I enjoyed the visual, though never experienced such a site. Unless you talk about "Snow Birds" then, yeah their migration season is upon us. LOL.

They've been fluttering thru here, too. And even though the weather is hot now, it can change in an hour. Your poem is a perfect early autumn poem!

it's a nice poem that evokes memories of a day a number of years ago, when my son and i were in a park and we got caught in a storm of them. there was close to a hundred that we startled out of their rest and they flew just over our heads. cool moment, cool poem. thanks

I love the symbolism of this poem... changing of the seasons. A moment caught beautifully with the imagery.

Although, a moment that seems so off. Yes, it is fall. However, the whole of North America is experiencing higher than average temps.

Great job Tim... xoxo

This is a beautiful companion poem to the one you posed previously about migrating birds and butterflies. This poem sings to me. It's beautiful and remarkably concise.

Thanks for sharing your gift with us.

Last weekend, we witnessed a higher-volume-than-normal migration of monarchs passing through Colorado on their way south. It was beautiful to witness. They were everywhere, even flying all around the park where the car show was that I went to. I should have known then that colder weather would be upon us soon...

Great poem to illustrate the inevitable change of seasons.

we should learn to trust animals and i guess insects more ... Michael always says, cops tell people to always trust their dogs... the butterflies moving on quickly to escape your cold.  thanks for sharing that Sir!
