timmy's poetry - 33. Garden

For a very special man, you know this is for you. I love you to bits and pieces...

And the piano plays a tune I don’t recognize

The melancholy oboe sings, touching my soul

With its thick yet tranquil loneliness

Notes from the violin flowed, soothing

Transcending, lush

All of these remind me of you

You—one I love, have for so long

Who I take for granted, but should not

And I’m sorry if poems I write are not always for you

But know it’s you who are with me, part of me

Who I run to, want and love and cherish

The one from my garden of people, I would pick

It's touching and beautiful. The tying in of the emotional response at the start with the picking of a flower in a garden makes me go to places of inward contemplation and outward freedom.

I liked the comment Lyssa made last night about this poem in Live-Poets Society, and I imagine the one for whom this poem resonates the most intimately is touched very deeply indeed.

Thanks for sharing your amazing gift with us.

When I first read this, I smiled for the sunlight and love I hear in every line. Reading it again today, the same smile returned, as I suspect it always will. Oboes and violins, like soothing like warm light; and the garden of people metaphor is brilliant. Utterly beautiful.

Thank you very much Parker. I appreciate you reading and your kind comments.
