Tristan's High School Life - 53. Chapter 53

I am not familiar with full air traffic rules and such. All errors are mine.

Air Traffic Control - New York, NY

"We have an unresponsive aircraft," Charlie said to her boss.
"What plane is it," Leon replied as he continued to monitor the rest of the air traffic in and out of the airports.
"It's Alpha-Delta 4520 that is en-route to JFK," Charlie said as she continued in an attempt to reach the plane.
Flipping through his screens, Leon noticed the plane registration showed it belonged to Senator Marshall Caruthers.
"Charlie, see if any other aircraft in the area can reach the plane and tell us what is going on," Leon said, trying not to panic. Picking up the phone on his desk, he made a call he dreaded. After alerting the proper authorities about the rouge plane, he warned all three major airports and held all outbound air traffic until he could figure out what was happening.
"Leon, the Senator's office has confirmed he is on the plane with friends and a security team," Veronica said.
"Thanks, Ronnie," Leon said. "We hear anything yet, Charlie?"
"The pilots in the area said they could see the pilots and no other movement onboard," Charlie said. "Sir, they have the aircraft moving at top speed."
"They are moving at 610 knots? Why?" Leon wondered out loud.
"They don't seem to be heading to JFK, and we don't know where the intended destination is," Charlie said.
"They are almost clear of the city," Ronnie said. "The Governor said not to shoot down the plane."
"Has the Air Force arrived yet?" Leon said, pacing the room.
"Yes, and they can't reach the pilots either," Charlie said.
"Leon, the FAA is on the phone," Ronnie said while holding the phone.

Leon hated these phone calls as the FAA would want to know his plan and that he needed to resume air traffic.

"The plane is over the Atlantic," Charlie said, and Leon nodded.

Picking up the phone, pressing line 1, and saying hello, Leon was interrupted by a bright light on the horizon.

"Alpha-Delta 4520 has exploded," came across the speakers.

Sorry for the short chapter but I wanted this to stand alone. We will pick up with the aftermath in the next chapter.
