Renee Stevens Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 It’s time to come up with themes for the 2015 GA Quarterly Anthologies and the 2015 GA Poetry Anthology. Please post your theme suggestions for the 2015 Quarterly & Poetry Anthologies here! Get your thinking caps on!! This topic will be open until 11:59 pm July 20th, 2014 (US Mountain Time). Please provide two lists, one with your theme suggestions for the Quarterly Anthologies and one for the Poetry Anthology. Also, please keep in mind that we create banners for each anthology. Long theme suggestions are problematic in putting on a banner. It is best to keep themes short. I have included a couple banners as an example to the banner size. Themes should also be able to be widely interpreted to give a variety of options for authors. We try to keep from doing themes that are too similar to those that have been done in the past, to see a list of past themes, click here. Banner Example Banner Example 1

That has some serious potential! If you want some with potential you just have to look around in Greek mythology and you may find out things like this: σκοτοβινιάω = which litteraly means no longer see from the urge to fuck
Renee Stevens Posted June 23, 2014 Author Posted June 23, 2014 I don't usually point out simple typos, but the date for submissions seems to have passed before the time for them has even started. ARGH! Thank you Tomas, it has been fixed. Also, themes must be in English or a well known foreign phrase (ex: Quid Pro Quo, Carpe Diem, etc) and no profanity.
Site Administrator Graeme Posted June 25, 2014 Site Administrator Posted June 25, 2014 Inspired by one of Sasha Distan's stories, I've got another quarterly anthology suggestion: Stereotypes 5

John Prz Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Also, themes must be in English or a well known foreign phrase (ex: Quid Pro Quo, Carpe Diem, etc) and no profanity. I did not think outside of Europe the ancient greek is not a very popular subject of study (at least at the level of high school) I didn't mean to offend, if i did i'm sorry.
Site Administrator Graeme Posted July 1, 2014 Site Administrator Posted July 1, 2014 (edited) John, there aren't a lot of well known non-English phrases or words in the English world, but there are a few. To be honest, I hadn't heard of Carpe Diem when it became an anthology theme, but I've certainly heard of Quid Pro Quo. A few others I can think of off the top of my head would be Que Sera Sera (from a popular song in the 50s), mañana (Spanish word used satirically to indicate sometime in the future), moi (french for "me"), babushka (russian, made famous in a song by Kate Bush), and Pro Bono (legal phrase that's used often enough for a lot of people to recognise it). I'm sure there are others Most don't make good anthology themes, though.... Edited July 1, 2014 by Graeme

There was no offense John, so please don't worry. I just realized that I had not specified those guidelines and that it would be wise to do so.
