Auld Lang Syne - A Tribute to Carlos Hazday *Now Live*

    By Valkyrie

Should old acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind? Should old acquaintance be forgot in the days of auld lang syne?   To answer the question in the song - no, old acquaintance should never be forgotten, especially when they were a force named Carlos Hazday.  It's hard to believe our friend has been gone for over a year now.  Based on the stories submitted for this tribute, it's clear that his influence lives on.  So, let's raise a glass and toast to auld lang syne and fond memories of

get ready to gobble?

Kay so that's a lame title... whatever. I couldn't think of anything good... I think it's my lack of Davey time   So i've been writing some. FBTE 23 is about halfway done and I have the plans for at least the next chapter also, so that's good right? I signed up for the anthology... which is due on December 15th  and I haven't started that yet... I may have to... not write something... but we'll see. There's still time right?   I toured 27 4th graders around my store today and I will

Violent tendencies

Ever been so frustrated that you just wanted to kill someone?   It's disturbing, I know. Watching movies where people die is one thing, but wanting to do it myself is another thing. I believe I may be working myself too thin with work, school, driving my sister everywhere, and taking care of my sick mother.   Thank god I don't own a gun. I'd probably be using that thing like it was going out of style or something.   No, I'm really not crazy. Just overwhelmed.   I may need to find a mor

The First Entry

Welcome to Talon's Claw. I've decided to do a blog. People may be wondering who I am. I'm sure by now that everyone knows I'm Nick's editor.   I'll start out with my professional life.   I've been in Health Care for 37 years. I started out working part time in Dietary at the local hospital. In 1972 thru 1984, I worked in Surgery as an orderly until I was transferred for what was called some restructuring. That was BS on their part, but I'm not going to get into that right now. So at the begi

The second time around

Ok, so i got to see it again Last weekend we were in Jacksonville when my cousin and I saw Borat so this weekend, we took Taylor to Sandbridge to see it...all I can say is HOLY CRAP!! It was still just as funny the second time as it was the first, and I can't wait for it to come out on DVD. Im actually getting somewhere with Bodega Bay. I have about a third of a chapter done, so it wont be long now. I think I just needed some time to recharge my batteries and think about what I wanted to do as

Muahahahaha!

So, I went to see "Borat" last night ... that has to be one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. I'm a big fan of "Da Ali G Show," and always thought it was pretty outrageous, but this really took the cake. I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, but ... whew, it was TOTALLY off the chain! I also ran into my boss at this little Thai restaurant near the movie theater which was kind of creepy, but it's all good.   One of my best friends from high school is crashing on my li

Leviticus, you say?

I've often been told that "homosexuality is an abomination, because the Bible says so."   My first response to that is that no one has any business forcing their religion on anyone else A man by the name of Bin Laden is a prime example of those who think otherwise, as he, like some extremist Christians, want the USA to follow his version of religion.   Furthermore, I usually remind the person citing the "biblical homosexuality" issue that the word "homosexuality" cannot be in the bible, f

This is my confession

There's no easy way for me to say this, so I guess I just need to be honest and come right out with it..........   I haven't written anything in seven days. I feel like I've cheated my readers and myself and even the administration here at GA because I made a commitment to update regularly but honestly I've been so busy that I haven't had a chance to just sit down and collect my thoughts long enough to be able to focus on anything but school and crap that's happening at home. To make things

Is is Friday yet?

I seriously need Friday to be here already.   The week feels so long, but apparently time is moving slowly only to me. This girl I work with says its going fast. In a way it is. It's just going slow to me because I'm dreading stuff and wish it were over already.   So tired this morning. Ever had trouble sleeping because you were so hungry but too damned lazy to walk downstairs to the fridge? Yeah, that was me last night. A major lazy ass. Anyway, at 7 AM I had to take my sister to the bus

How To Waste 15 Minutes Of Your Life

Oh yes… another one of my ranting blogs. But this time it isn’t so much of a rant, as it is a realization. Ok, it is a rant at first, and I sound really needy, whiney, and bitchy, but so be it. I’m a little sleep deprived right now so it may not all flow together or be coherent, but that’s just another reason you should stop reading right now This could take a while, and will most likely be really long. I pity the fool who may actual waste part of his/her life reading this whole thing.   To s

I think kurt might just dis-own me

hehehe...I asked Kurt a question a few days ago and got a fairly straight answer...they wanted more.   the next question I asked him got a resounding "Not Sci-fi"   the part he is going to laugh about, when Kurt said they wanted more, I told him "I'm not going to start another story till IFLM is done...the part where he might dis-own me...it's Sci-fi   this is just a few words strung together, Kurt hasn't even seen it yet; heck, he might make me get a second editor for this one...lol

13 is sometimes an unlucky number

I guess 13 really is an unlucky number sometimes. Yesterday I had 13 kittens. Today I have 12.   Pretty Kitty Kitty's third baby, the little black and white girl, died last night. She didn't have a great start, being born a full day and a half after her siblings. She didn't seem to be able to nurse--probably because she was weaker than the other two kittens and they would push her away--not because they were trying to, but just by moving around and being bigger and stronger. She was hun

Fifth of November

Remember, remember the fifth of November, The gunpowder, treason and plot, I see of no reason why gunpowder treason Should ever be forgot.     In 1604 a group of disaffected Catholics decided that they had a belly full of Protestant King James.   One Guy Fawkes tried to blow up Parliament and King James with many kegs of gunpowder. It didn't work out and Fawkes was executed but November fifth has been an unofficial holiday in Great Britain and many countries in the Commonwealth ever

Once upon a Time

Once upon a time there was a site....it was a quaint little site with high quality stories and high quality authors. This site was run by one woman, and she worked hard to make it a site everyone could enjoy. There was no forum, and no blogs, but there were beautiful pages and nice layouts. It was obvious that the owner of the site cared greatly for her authors and her readers. One of the best aspects of her site was the lack of any political discussion. There was none to be found, and life was

Sunday is such a bitch

I hate Sunday's. It's the worst day of the whole entire week, ok, maybe not as bad as Monday. Or maybe it IS worse than Monday, because at least once Monday comes, you know you're well on your way to Friday, but with Sunday, you're waiting for the week to start with nervus anticipation. And let me tell you, I get the pre-week jitters and anxiety. It doesn't help that Mondays are one of my worst days with work in the morning and three back to back classes at night. And I commute. It blows.   R

NaNoWriMo 'n' things.

I haven't blogged in ages, which is probably just as well. Much too much I don't want to talk about. However the update to the GA software deserves a mention, even if it's only to thank all those who work behind the scenes.   I'm taking part in this years NaNoWriMo, which for those of you who don't know, is writing a 50,000 word 'novel' in a month. I was going to do it in secret, but if I do that I'll probably never finish it. So I'm 'outing' myself and thus have to finish it... see the logic?

Why knotme?

My current (03 Nov 06) Personal Statement says I'm "partly out". I was almost fully out before I moved to Hawaii. I felt no hurry to come out again after I moved here, so I dragged my feet. Gay Authors has me reconsidering. This blog for instance. I've restricted it to members. While there's no particular reason for a guest to read it, I do regret forcing members to log in before reading. Also, because I'm not comfortable telling all of my new neighbors about my blog, I can't always ask a neighb
