Frostina Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 oookay! Let's say: HP and the Deathly Hallows by JK Rowling. How close am I?
Andy78 Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 You are right (has enjoyed lulling Frosty into false sense of security **cackles insanely to self**)
Frostina Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 LOL andy, I did mention Rowling in the previous post! you just missed it! But.. as for the next one... Hm... “Mothers are all slightly insane”
sat8997 Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 *waves hand in the air* I know this one. Required reading from high school thir...some time ago. Salinger's Catcher in the Rye.
Frostina Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird. Oh! it did sound familiar! I coudnt place it! but...
sat8997 Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird. Yep yep yep. Balls in your court, Dad.
Daddydavek Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Must have been too easy. Hopefully the quote below will spark someone's recollection. "Who's stoned? I am merely traveling incognito."
Mark92 Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Oldy but goody. Not you dad, but the book and movie. Valley of the dolls. I know the story just not the author. I'll leave that to someone else, because I would have to google it. Let them who get the author do next quote
Andy78 Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 The author is is Jacqueline Susann. Didn't know the quote, but I know she wrote the book. I'll yet you do the next quote Mark, since I only got the author because you gave us the title.
Daddydavek Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 It's a wonderful quote from a book that was immensely popular when it came out in the mid to late 1960's. The Valley of the Dolls was written by Jacqueline Susann and the quote is by Neeley's character. Mark now it is your turn! (Oh, and I am an oldy but goody too!)
Mark92 Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Sorry for delay, had to find the book. I have crates of them LOL Quote "What one man can invent another can discover."
Andy78 Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 It's from Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I love Holmes - I'm reading the complete works at the moment (just finished Wisteria Lodge). I know it's one of the short stories, and a recent one at that. I think it's from The Adventure of the Dancing Men, but i might be wrong.
comicfan Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 Geez you guys have been moving right along. Going to wait for the next quote already.
Andy78 Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 Let's try this one: More boys in grey emerging from the surrounding undergrowth, running up the drive, some of them armed with shotguns or air rifles, while others - were they carrying bows and quivers of arrows?
Zombie Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 Reads a bit like Lord of the Flies except there wasn't a "drive" on the desert island and they didn't have guns Is it dystopian sci-fi?
Zombie Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 Then it must be John Wyndham? It's a long time since I read his books, which were great. But I remember the were a few on the theme of alien spawned children - Village of the Damned, Children of the Damned - or were those the movie title names?
Andy78 Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 My dear Mr Zombie sir, unfortunately it must not be John Wyndham.
Zombie Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 Hmmm *wanders off to make a cuppa tea scratching his head*
