We've watched a lot programs about food that is thrown away or plowed under because it doesn't fit what the stores want. One year we bought an absolutely huge cauliflower but it wasn't wanted because it was more yellow than white. It tasted the same. There is so much waste we really don't care if the stuff is fresh. For us it's the the right thing to do. We may get things we don't buy often. I'm looking forward to it. 6

I was checking out the website and found this statement since they cannot let you pick and choose what you’re going to get. That’s an excellent part of their service, I’d say. The Amish market I go to has a lot of odd shaped produce. They usually have a few racks of stuff that's discounted. I've gotten some freaky looking potatoes before. Tasted just like the other ones. Oddball carrots and zucchini are frequent occupants of that rack too. I guess every region has its own Island of Misfit Produce. 🤪 5 1

Yes, I'm sure it's much the same in Canada. tim and I decided that we'd stop wasting food. It's made us look at what we buy and how we can use what we buy to avoid wasting it. We do pretty well but it does take effort on our part. 6

Popular Post kbois Posted July 12, 2021 Popular Post Posted July 12, 2021 I'm not sure if I should be mad or if I should just shake my head and laugh. I'm probably going with the latter, but there's still part of me that's going wtf? At work today a resident commented (rather rudely) that I always wear the same jewelry. Okaaaayyy. I get where this person is coming from. I wear silver stud earrings and my wedding band and engagement ring. I also wear a silver curb chain necklace all the time. This was the first Christmas gift my husband gave me when we started dating. It has just as much meaning to me as my wedding ring. Which I told them. The resident had the audacity to say "Well that's weird." Ummmm.... what the hell does one say to that? I just smiled blankly like an idiot with an IQ in the single digits until they left. Weirdest conversation ever. So it got me wondering. Does anyone else wear something all the time that has sentimental value, or am I too attached to this necklace? 3 3

Personally, I think it’s pretty rude of them to judge you. I don’t see the difference between repeated wedding ring wear and repeated wear of other kinds of jewelry. Whoever it is that made the comment needs to get a new hobby. Seriously though, I don’t get why they noticed or cared. 5

Jeez--some people! You are a better person that I am. After I regained my senses, I would have responded with a large serving of snark. Something like " I only wear quality pieces that have true meaning to me. I'm allergic to costume jewelry, and ostentatious pieces don't look good on me." Who am I kidding? I'd have told them to F*#k off and risked losing my job. Like I said, you're a far better person that I. You do you and you keep right on doing you. Never doubt that you are amazing just as you are. 6 1

As we are D/s, tim wears my 'collar' in his case it's a silver chain with solid silver flat ring with forever on it. he has worn it since we got married. How long is that, 12 years? It's only taken off for medical procedures. I don't that's weird at all. For instance many catholics wear the crucifix their whole life. That's not considered weird is it? 2 5

Popular Post kbois Posted July 12, 2021 Popular Post Posted July 12, 2021 @chris191070 What a nice keepsake of your Mum's. Sometimes I wish I had something like that of my Dad's. @headtransplant the particular resident is a rather difficult person on the best day. Rude? Most of the time. Unfortunately with the age group of the community, too many of them have way to much time on their hands and love to meddle. @mollyhousemouse you're right. It's really is none of their business. I had trouble with my wedding rings after I had my first son... kept breaking out on my finger. I couldn't wear them for almost 15 years. Hormonal I think. That's part of why my necklace means what it does. @spyke Not sure if I'm a better person. I've just learned that some things are just not worth getting upset over. Yes, I was mad for a few moments, but realized I just had to move on. I'll keep doing me. It's what I know. @MichaelS36 I think that the symbolism of the 'collar' in your lifestyle is something wonderful. l've had this chain since 1986. Other than a 3 month breakup while still in college, I've worn it nearly every day. It's a constant connection to my husband. Thanks for the comments. I was just blown away by the outright audacity of this person. It make me wonder if it's truly outright rudeness or if they're starting a decline in mental status, which is common (this person is over 80). I'm still going to wear my chain and my wedding rings. I might change out my earrings 🤔. I also ordered myself a couple of anklets as a birthday present. Enjoy the rest of your evening! 1 7

kbois Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 Thanks everyone for the congrats! I have to admit, that little challenge I think turned out to be my favorite thing I've written so far. It's funny what your brain can come up with sometimes. This was a fun, quirky little story to write. Heading home in a few. The skies are dark, thunder is rumbling and I'm going to be heading in the direction the storm is coming from. Picking up hubby and son and then dashing between the raindrops for a birthday dinner. Splurging on Mexican tonight! Have a good evening and thanks again! 1 4
