Popular Post Mikiesboy Posted January 11 Author Popular Post Posted January 11 Happy Sunday folks. Hope everyone is hanging in there and enjoying life. We are still struggling to feel better...seems a bit of a roller coaster. Because of this year's flu, masks are again being recommended. That's fine with me. I don't need to get that. I have trouble outdoors once the temps go way down, and found that wearing a mask helps when it's freezing. I'm messing around with knitting cables. I've never made anything with them though i've a little online course offered by Tin Can Knits, which was fun. I just have to find a pattern or thing i want to make. Anyway, time to get some food started .... have a super day everyone!! 1 8

I’m seeing a lot of blue skies and sunshine atm, so I hope you and Mike are as well, tim. Your talk about knitting has got me thinking of taking up knitting again. Mind you, the only thing I ever really made was a blanket for my cat to sleep on as she liked to sleep under my dresser beside the air vent. That was also a very long time ago. Long story short, I realized I have forgotten how to make the initial stitches on the needle. Good thing there’s this little thing called YouTube lol Take care, and I hope you both feel better soon. xoxo Edited January 11 by Reader1810 5

The gray starts to get to me after a while. Knitting helps my anxiety a lot. My fav cast on is the Long tail cast on, it's pretty simple, plenty of YT offerings on that. My fav channels are Arne and Carlos, and KnicoleKnits (she's Canadian) but there are tons of them. Here's my lil cables sample...it's done with light fingering weight, nearly lace, yarn... Michael got me the book and the workbook from Patty Lyons (knitting expert type person) called The Knitting Bag of Tricks.. i'm having fun with that.. the workbook has stickers...fun, right? LOL I hope you take up knitting again. It's fun and relaxing even when things go wrong and they always do! 6

I let it dry, and this morning used my lil handi tool to fix it as much as possible, and then i used the same yarn to fix it. There's always something. No one will ever see it except me. The handi tool was $3.50 from Michaels. 1 5

Popular Post kbois Posted January 11 Popular Post Posted January 11 Today is a cooking kind of day. This morning I discovered we had no biscuits for egg sandwiches which is a Sunday favorite so I made some from scratch. Then it was off to the pool for some much needed exercise. Came home and put some meat sauce in the crockpot to simmer for a few hours. Dinner tonight is roasted pork loin and a balsamic roasted veggie. I think I'm going to throw some onions in another crockpot overnight and make onion soup tomorrow ... yum. Have a good weekend everyone! 8

I really like Michaels, which I could walk to when I lived in Toronto. It’s too far for that now. I can still walk to quite a few places, but living in the ‘burbs means there are a lot of places only accessible by car, because the buses don’t run frequently enough. 4

Do you have a local yarn shop...i'd rather go to one of those, but there is nothing yarny around here, we have to drive or bus it to Michaels. My fav yarn shop is Romni Wools but that's too far to go to so i order online usually. There's Mary Maxim's too, online they are pretty good, but it depends on what you're looking for. I got these for Xmas too.. i am looking forward to making them as well. I can sew and embroider, these are not cross stitch which i don't enjoy doing. 6

Sadly, my options are limited. The only one left is at the literal opposite end of town, and it’s gotten some not so favourable reviews. I think I’ll check out Michael to see what’s available - ie types and what they’re called - then check the online places you mentioned. 1

I went through a cross stitch phase in the very early 90s, but I don’t see doing it again, though I did enjoy it at the time. 1

Kitt Posted January 12 Posted January 12 (edited) Update time! Hubby's foot is healing well in spite of the crap from the HNS. Doc is impressed with the progress. We got a bundle of bandages that was half of what is needed. By half I mean the gauze pads sent were 2x2" instead of the 4x4's needed. ( the wound is 5" long on top of foot and 6" on the sole. I unfold the 4x4 to get 8×4 and then layer for thickness). The stretch gauze rolls to tie it all up with were 2 yards long instead of the 4 yards I was using 2 of, so now I need 4 rolls to do the same work. Called.the HNS and bypassed this "nurse manager" that has been driving me batty. Spoke with a lovely young lady that speaks English as her FIRST language. Explained the issue and she over rode the "every two weeks" order rule, and sent what I said I needed. They changed him from I V antibiotics to oral, and removed the Pic line so minimal contact with the idiot nurse manager from here. HURRAY!!! But now we have a new glitch. As of Jan 1, his health insurance has been discontinued. No one can say why. Health company says HR for the company he retired from did it, call them. HR says nope, we didn't do that, call the ins co. TWO "work tickets" to fix and 3 weeks later, I am back to square one. Any one got a nice rubber room for me? Edited January 13 by Kitt 4 1
