Just how am I supposed to get what adds up to an hours worth of stuff done in 45 minutes???

You don't. Arrive when you do to the doctor's appointment. Any tardiness that may happen, your husband can explain to the doctor, and/or he can suffer the consequences with the "covering" doc. He's a grown a** man and this is all his fault. You're just the Uber driver.

Please don't get me wrong here. I hate that he's had to go through amputations. Diabetes sucks bigly. But at some point you have to exhale and realize that you can't fight this battle for him. I speak from experience because my ex husband was a diabetic. I spent countless hours riding the benches in ER's and doctor's offices, and pulling him back from the brink of death at home only to have him disregard their medical advice to do what he needed to do in order to stay healthy.

You're in my thoughts Kitt. Please take care of yourself.

Happy Christmas Eve Eve everyone!

I hope your shopping is all done and presents are wrapped. I think I'm all set, but every year it never fails that despite writing a list, I remember one more thing I need and its usually 5pm Christmas Eve.

I was planning on a nice Christmas prime rib for me, hubs, the child and the MIL. Plans have changed as MIL and the child have decided on going to our SIL's tomorrow night, and our niece's for Christmas dinner. No sense in cooking a 7lb roast for two people. Hubby's birthday is in 2 weeks so I'll save it for then.

Apparently our other SIL stopped by yesterday while I was out and tried to rip my husband a new one because we were "blowing them off" for Christmas. He didn't take it lying down and told her point blank it wasn't about "blowing off" the family but he just got done working 6 straight weeks of 55 hours at a physically demanding job and needs to decompress. He also shoved it in her face that holidays are hard for us since the whole incident with my son and now our kids are estranged because of it and we will probably never have another holiday with both of our boys together and its difficult being around the rest of the family when they dont have that problem.

That shut her up. She's damn lucky I wasn't home. He said she apologized.

Its not the holidays without some sort of family drama.

I hope everyone weathers the next few days successfully. If not, we can always start a GoFundMe lol.

Have a good day everyone!

Well, we gave up waiting on the twit home nurse, got him into my truck and I had just put the truck in gear to head for the doctors apt when she finally showed up, pulling across my drive so we could not pull out. Then she wanted us to " run inside so she can draw blood real quick".

No. We are already running late cause you did not show on schedule. Move your car.

Pulled it up about 3 feet and parked, still blocking me in, gets out and says "I will be quick"

What she did not take into consideration is my 2500 series pick up has plenty of ground clearance, I hopped the curb and drove off, leaving her staring after us dumbfounded.

Now Doc says no more IV antibiotics, switch to oral. So no more changing bandage on the Pic line after removal early next week. He is mobile enough to go to the lab for blood work, so I am hoping to get rid of these twits soon!

Today i baked the cranberry cookies from the frozen dough balls i made earlier and froze. I made gluten free pastry and baked gf mincemeat tarts and strawberry rhubarb tarts and regular pastry mincemeat tarts.  Those along with fudge, brocolli, cauliflower and rutabega will go with us tomorrow.

I’ve made the dog’s food (homemade is the only way she roles :P ) as she’ll be arriving 🐾🐾🐾 soon with her “staff”. I also diced three Spanish onions and lots of celery for the stuffing. I have to say, tim, what you’ve put together thus far is impressive and very mouthwatering…

I hope whatever you and Mike for the holidays is everything you wanted and beyond that want.

xoxo.

We still have 'our' dog here. He's supposed to go home today, but we've not heard from his mom. She brought him over a few days ago, i guess he's been making a pest of himself. He's never had her home all the time, but she retired last summer to care for her mom, who passed away since then. Now, she can't move, and the dog is bouncing around. She needed a break, so came here.  Anyway, i'm glad you're ready for your four legged friend and the staff.

Michael and i are going to His mom's tomorrow. Peter and all will be there too. It should be fun.

Oh, i bought Robin Hood's gluten-free 1:1 flour.. i made those cranberry cookies with that and also used Robin Hood's single pie crust pastry recipe (online) to make mincemeat and the strawberry tarts. Both came out beautifully. I tried their method to roll out the dough, but it's not perfect. It sticks a little to the parchment, but i formed the tart shells by hand. I put strips of parchment paper in the tart tins to be sure i can get them out...and it worked beautifully.  We sampled one and the pastry was very nice. I made it in the food processor as they suggested. It worked well and i'm happy because i hate making pastry.

I chilled it as they said, and then again after i put it in the tins before filling them.

Enjoy Christmas, talk soon. xoxoo

When do you get your next Michelin star ️?

Merry Christmas to all of the wonderful folks here at the DIC. My wish for everyone is that Santa brings gifts that cannot be measured by monetary values, but those that are priceless and remain timeless and cherished forever. Light the fire, lay out the cookies and milk, hug your loved ones, drink some hot cocoa, go to bed early, and may you dream the sweetest of dreams.

Merry Christmas spyke and Happy New year. 🎉
