timmy's poetry - 19. I'm On a New Drug

On meds and feeling meh and grumpy.

 

Another visit to the doctor

How much more time do I have?

More tests and jabs on the way

Doc’s applying verbal salve

 

It’s what they never tell you

A look or sideways glance

They just pat you on the back

Tell you you’re still in the dance

 

I’m tired of my body’s rebellion

Would just like a few years of peace

Is that so much to ask for?

Before comes that final release

 

He tells me again we need to wait

For the test results to come back

Says to just keep living your life

Don’t think the future is black

 

I’m so not ready to give up my ghost

Till my last gasp I’ll fight for what’s mine

Finally I’ve found what I love to do

And I just want to have some more time

Nothing to worry about...just new meds and stuff.

You had me at "I wanna new drug...". Loved Huey Lewis and the News when I was young(er). Thanks for the memory, tim. :D

You can still enjoy them now ... i watch a show on tv call Vintages and they have all the old music videos.. some great music from the 70's, 80's etc, i love so many kinds of music ,, but when i was thinking for a title for this poem.. I'm on a new drug.. worked!    Vintages has specials.. last night Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show, the other night MeatLoaf.. great stuff.

Sometimes it feels like we spend half our life waiting for something. Whether it's test results that have us on tender hooks, or everyday thing like waiting for a bus. 

 

All i want to say is live!! Love!! Laugh!!! Have fun and thumb your nose at the rest.... :hug:
