Thorny Poetry - 48. Five Steps

step one

it’s not that i can’t sleep

i just don’t want to go to bed

i’d rather sleep all day than

close my eyes at night

 

step two

i hide away

in made up worlds

in computer games

 

step three

i realise

that thing i was looking forward to

no longer fills me with excitement

instead i feel

cold, blank, disappointed

 

step four

it gets so dark

nothing feels meaningful

every action is pointless and dull

 

step five

i wish i were somewhere else

someone else

so i could go to sleep and

never wake up

It always takes me a little while before I realise I'm depressed.

Thanks, tim. ❤️ I try to just swim through it, I guess. Accept that there are days when I just can't and try not to push myself on those days, and then work on it on the days when I can. That's what they told me in my depression psychoeducation class. Then in my bipolar psychoeducation class they told me I just have to live through it and try to do things that are good for me, because, well... it's just my brain chemistry.
