    Summer Resolutions, Anyone?

    By Aditus

This year I’m going to clear out the shed. I’ll try this long hike someone recommended. I won’t sleep in every day.  I’ll eat healthy, all these yummy vegetables and fruit that are available now. I will finish the story that has been on hold for so long. Summer break starts on Monday, and I have a very long list. What about you? Maybe try to write a prompt story?   PT Prompt #352   Dale bought an ice cream maker, but vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry are just about that

I'm having a heart attack!

Okay, so I just got an email from the housing people, FINALLY, and...I think my roommate is a guy! I haven't actually spoken to the person yet, I'm actually writing an email right now, but it's definitely a guy's name. I mean, sure, we'll have different bedrooms, but I was NOT expecting that. I debated about whether it was totally weird to just ask "Are you a guy?" but I finally decided to. I mean, it'd be nice to know.   And I can't move in until the 13th! How stupid is that? That's a Sunday

Just in time...I'm legal, baby

Well, we made it back yesterday California was nice to visit, but by the end of our trip, I was glad to be coming home. We had a really good time, though. I dont even know where to begin.....   The flight there totally sucked. I started to panic a little when we were about to take off because I thought I could smell something burning, then the lady in the seat behind me asked the lady who she was sitting next to if she could smell smoke So anyway, by that point, we were going really fast d

Ethiopian food, asthma, & editing

Last night, Rigel from GA treated me to a wonderful meal at an Ethiopian restaurant. It was my first time eating Ethiopian food, even though some people may have thought I had, since I wrote about that in a previous chapter of SOOTB. The actual experience was pretty much as I described it. The food was spicy, which I love, and the Sam Adams beer washed everything down nicely. Rigel and Mrs. Rigel were also excellent dinner companions, and I enjoyed meeting them and chatting. So, thank you for a

How does my garden grow?

Well, my garden is doing pretty well this year. I used to have a HUGE garden where I used to live. Last year I was so disgusted with the trees around my yard (because they shaded it completely and made digging nearly impossible) that I didn't put in a garden (except for an herb garden that mostly did not overwinter). But this year I decided that I could NOT stand not having a garden. So I trimmed some trees--took one down completely (don't ask about the gas grill it landed on, I had 2 anyway

Sam embraces his "Festeriness"

Sam had his head shaved at the hair salon a while ago. He wanted it shaved with a razor, but they just used clippers and it was not really "down to the skin." But it was close. Well, one of his 'friends' told him he looked like Uncle Fester. Ok, Sam is a pretty sensitive kid at times. So when he told me this, I really expected him to go all drama queen on me (yes, he gets that from me). But instead, he decided to 'embrace his Festerness.' I was very proud of him when he told me that.

Coming out to my mom

Okay, so I havent been that close to my mom for the last year, year and a half for various reasons. First, about a year or more ago, my mom and stepdad had separated, and I was fine with this, because I hated the f**ker's guts and he was just a sick weirdo. Well my mom was thinking about getting back together with him and I'm not trying to be the 'kid who rules my mom's life', it's just that he was a sicko and an asshole...hell he left her in the hospital when she had blood clots in her legs a f

depressoin sucks

Hi all,   Just thought I'd drop a line and tell everyone what's going on with my story. I have posted chapter 3 and sent chapter 4 to Kurt for editing. chapter four went in a direction I didn't expect...and it brought some memories back up from those places in my mind best not explored. Now, every time I sit down to work on chapter 5, I just seem to lock up.

finally, a proper entry

Holy crap, it's been so long since I've really paid attention here at GA that there's all these new people I don't know...*cowers in the corner.* I've just been too busy travelling and trying to get ready to move AGAIN. And if you'll all allow me a moment to complain, OMG is it a lot of trouble going to that school! I've had to get two vaccinations, still need a third that I can't get for a few months, have to send copies of all these medical records, and then there's the chicken pox saga. I hav

A Year Later

In about three hours it'll be my one year anniversary here at GA. As such I thought now was as good a time as any to compare how things are different now than they were a year ago. Especially how this site has impacted my life.   I'm not sure so much what I want to say. I've typed several paragraphs and deleted each one. I guess what I'd basically like to say is thank you. It's exactly a year ago that I finished reading TLW and joined GA. I used to keep a Livejournal and I've just gone

Waiting stinks ...

Now into week two of my return Stateside ... still nothing ... it sucks when everyone tells you how incredibly marketable you are and will have no trouble finding a job ... and now they say that I probably won't hear from anyone for a few weeks ... at least ... Well, I don't like sitting around ... it totally bites.   But anyway, I've posted a picture of my new car ... the only good thing to come out of this move so far.   I got my new karate uniform in the mail yesterday, along with the

delay in life

Hi all, Just had to stop in and chat for a while. I feel kinda bad about the delay in posting chapter 3. It got up to 110 degrees outside my house sunday, and my computer room doesn't have airconditioning. For the past three days I haven't been able to run my computer long enough to write more than five words. Add that to the 10 hours of overtime in the last week, and I haven't gotten anything written. Kurtie has chapter 3 right now, but as all teenagers know, the parents take priority...and his

been a while

I couldn't post last night. It took to long to calm down after reading my first reviews. I finally got 3 after I posted chapter 2!! I just hope chapter 3 is liked as much . Most of the story just seems to form all on it's own. I started out with a destination, but I don't really have a road to travel on. It makes it really easy to not give out spoilers...cause I don't even know what will happen . I did get three responses from nifty today

blog this...blog that

Yup, It's my blog... I'll never know what to put in here. So, where I work, it is that time of year. the time for random o/t and long days, and given the editing marks Kurtie left on IFLM ch2, it may be a few days before I post 2 or even start 3. And just for the record...A snail walking across my keyboard can get a story out faster than I can . The next chapter will be posted by friday though, after that, I just don't know

Well, it's official...my dad's trying to ruin my vacation     I knew this would happen. Here's what he's doing.........       I have my own job, and I make my own money....also, I have a lot of report card money, too. I wanted to take a thousand dollars with me to California for our vacation, but my dad wouldn't let me. Instead, he only let me have three hundred dollars out of my savings account, then he gave me 500 dollars to spend why we're there.....I told him that he wouldn't have t

the word "Diet" is "Die" with a T

I've been dieting and I hate it. Why is it that everything in the Southern diet has too much cholesterol, fat or sugar? Maybe it would help if we didn't roll everything in flour and lemon-pepper and fry it.   Salad and pasta and fruit oh my! Salad and pasta and fruit oh my!   I'm sorry but I'm a carnivore. Nothing made of meat is safe near me at the moment. I'm liable to kill it and fry it. I'm hoping that my cat will bring me a squirrel carcass.   Awe- screw it. I'm going to Wendy'

Back for one week

So, I've now been back in the States for a week. It's been quite an eye-opening experience in some ways, very boring and frustrating in others. Not much has been going on the past few days, although I went and bought a suit today ... Calvin Klein, dark gray, much more conservative than I'd like. I was thinking more along the lines of a flashy Versace suit, maybe like a fireman's red vinyl suit ... but it was explained to me that that wouldn't go over so well in a job interview ...   The plan
