Just in case someone follows this topic but not the COTT forum, where Gary posted this. Keep your fingers crossed and add your best wishes / prayers for a speedy recovery for CG.

Thanks for posting this, Tim; and thanks to Gary for the original message.

I hope and pray our dear friend is all right, and will recover soon.

Keep up your strength, ColumbusGuy! We're all pulling for you.

Thanks for posting this here, Tim. I should have thought to do it last night, but I was pretty upset, and it was late...

The latest is that CG"s friend will pass on our love and best wishes to our friend... and he says CG will be very happy to receive them. As soon as I know more I will post here and in the COTT forum. I know he is in all our prayers.... Gary

We miss you CG.  My official Christmas wish is for you to get good news when the doc calls back your results.  I am sure the rest of the gang will put their wishes in line with mine!

Merry Christmas my friend!

Hi Gary Can you ask again today how CG is doing and ask his friend / sister to tell him we think of him and miss him and keep our fingers crossed for Monday or whenever they will do the op or get on with examining his eyes and set them right. I worry it's related to the problems he had with his blood sugar recently. :(

The sudden worsening could very well be related to his sugar issues. It is one of the reasons it is so important for a diabetic to keep things under control.

All our love CG!

Update on CG!!!

Here is an email response I got from CG's friend:

I apologize.

I have been on vacation myself and I forgot that you would be in the dark since he had no way to reach you.

The short story is, that CG seems to be in good spirits, even as he contemplates the worst case scenarios.

We have been in touch a few times in the last week.  The retina is detached, but before they could evaluate the extent of permanent damage, and set a plan for repairs, they first needed to perform cataract surgery.   This surgery took slightly longer than the median time for such surgeries, but the end result was excellent, and they have probably corrected a good portion of his prescription in the process.   His eye is mending well from that surgery with less than the usual swelling.

Of course, prescription will be moot if the retina can not be repaired.   He had his first appointmentwith another specialist to examine the retina and discuss options last night.    The situation doesn’t look great.  But we can’t know for sure until after the laser surgery to repair the retina.   Due to clouding of the intraoccular fluid, common after cataract surgery, they will not be able to attempt work on the retina for at least 2 more weeks.

Okay, so I actually talked to CG for more than an hour... He is in the hospital still... may go home tomorrow(to his friend's). He is in sort of good spirits... worried of course... he may end up with two or three more surgeries, and it could be months before he's back... He says 'hi' to everyone... we chatted about all kinds of things and I think it took his mind of his situation a bit... he is a very sweet man. All he can distinguish is light and dark and silhouettes... and he's already checked into computer programs for the blind but we won't go there right now. It should be at least two surgeries to attach the retina... if it is possible... so cross your fingers... think good thoughts... say prayers... whatever you can think of... I told him how much everyone cares, and that we all love him... I might be talking to him again tomorrow if he's still at the hospital... and if he's not, I have to wait for his friend to email me with a different phone #... that's all for now... he's upset that he missed the latest chapter, and talked about Nate and Bodie lol... he really is a sweet, sweet guy... we need him back.... Just so you all know, I sent off a third email this morning to CG's friend but have not heard back... no luck with contacting his sister either, but it's a cell phone, so it could be reception...

Thanks Gary... we'll keep on sending all the best wishes we can.. thanks for letting us know

Thanks for trying Gary.  As the saying goes...no news is good news. Let's hope that rings true.

Thanks Gary, eventually someone will respond. Until then we keep up with prayers and good wishes.

Thank you Gary... We're all keeping the faith..

Thank's for letting us know, Gary.  I'm hoping no new is good news  :/

A special news update - the electrician is cute more than hunky, I am hoping that the tree chopper will be a hunk  :P

On a more serious note, I have fingers and toes crossed for Eagle, CG and Victor.

Copied from page 904 in the COTT topic, so CG doesn't have to go through hundred of pages to find these posts. ;)
