Having said that, the one we have is one my mom has had for decades. The metal “blades” are much thinner than the pic you posted - and which is what I’ve seen for sale nowadays - so I don’t think it would be a very effective tool for breaking up nuts. 2

My old pastry knife would never have handled the nuts, but that one fell apart ( after almost 40 years of use) and the new one would make short work of pretty much anything I took it to. 3

kbois Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 So leaving the gym tonight as I was going to the door, the guy that was a few steps behind me all of a sudden starts running so he can pass me. I'm thinking 'what the heck?' He was suddenly in a rush to get to the door. Yeah.... he was in a hurry so he could get in front of me to hold the door open for me! Common courtesy is still alive and kicking. It's been a stressful week and that made me smile and put me in a much better frame of mind. It's amazing what a little kindness can do. Now it's time to walk the mutts and chill for the rest of the night. Have a good night everyone! 2 3

Popular Post Starrynight22 Posted September 18, 2021 Popular Post Posted September 18, 2021 Hello all! It's a peaceful start to the weekend today. Hope you are all doing well. tim- how lovely to feel that dedication from your husband. I think sometimes when we are at weddings it can make us feel a deeper connection and commitment to our partners. I'm picturing you and Mike swirling on the dance floor. Made me smile. Kbois- I hope the week with the property owner is easy. Sorry so many will complain. It's so frustrating to deal with folks who seem to willfully misinterpret changes. Rick- glad to hear you're doing well. This weather is disappointing, it hardly feels like the usual Ohio (almost) fall, it's so hot. I was joking the other day that we will cool down, get a week of nice weather and then it will snow, but I hope not. Hello to kitt, reader, Molly and everyone I didn't name. 6
Popular Post Ryan Jones Posted September 19, 2021 Popular Post Posted September 19, 2021 A quick trip report. Umm, sorry it turned out to be a LONG trip report! Left Friday at 3am, it's 300 miles, so about 4.3 hours the way I drive. Can't go as fast as I'd like in the middle of the night because you're pretty much alone on the interstate and in Virginia if you're caught going over 80mph they can take on a reckless driving charge in addition to the speeding ticket. Speed limit is 70. Got to my 88 year old aunt's house around 730am, I hadn't seen here in 2 years. She's like my surrogate mother, when I was born she was 18 and came to DC and watched me for a year so my mother could get back to work. I've always felt closer to her than anyone and when I'm not with Justin I stay at her house. Since Justin was with me we stayed at a hotel in Greenville (NC, not SC). Mask wearing is about at the 50% level it appeared. More women than men wearing them. The rural areas around the city are hotbeds of infection, even Greenville itself is bad. In the past month two of my aunt's friends have tested positive, no serious effects but one of them was sick for about 4 weeks at home. All older, all fully vaccinated. I went to meet my cousin Danny on Friday around noon. He's a cousin who is the same age as me, within a couple of months. We had a sexual relationship as teenagers, well, it depends on your definition of sexual and relationship. It was just me blowing him whenever he wanted but I wanted to do it so it was okay. He got married at 19 and we hadn't had a real conversation since his marriage. Spent 4 hours there Friday afternoon and we talked about everything in both our lives. Was really fun, told him we shouldn't wait another 50 years to talk again. Justin and I ate lunch with my aunt, visited with her awhile then back to the hotel. Saturday we ate lunch with my aunt then visited my two surviving uncles. One is in seriously bad condition with Alzheimer's and mesothelioma. In the two years since I've seen him he's gone from a normal 6' 190lb man to maybe 120lbs. Looks almost skeletal. The other uncle lost his wife last year, he looked good but complained about being in solitary confinement in his big empty house. Left around 715pm and once I got past Richmond there was enough traffic to ignore the 70 or 80 speed limit and motor along. I put on the Enigma MCMXC a.D. release and zoned completely out. By the time the album came to the end I had traveled an extraordinary distance. I think I must have teleported. Anyway, I have about 25 first cousins and an uncountable (at least by me) number of second and third cousins. I'm hoping to get someone in NC interested in hosting one more complete family dinner before the last aunts/uncles are gone. Sorry again for the length of this. It just spewed out, I didn't plan it. Oh, one last thing. I was surprised, shocked even. I didn't see ONE Trump sign driving through all those rural areas of NC. 6
Popular Post Mikiesboy Posted September 19, 2021 Author Popular Post Posted September 19, 2021 i would marry Him again, but i think maybe we'll just stay married, as we are. i think He'd agree it's just easier than getting divorced just to do it all again. i don't think either of us are into renewing vows, since we haven't forgotten the first ones yet.. He is always here for me. Hope everyone has a good week. 4 11

Popular Post kbois Posted September 19, 2021 Popular Post Posted September 19, 2021 Today has been a self care day. Breakfast, then pedicures with my friend. I now have glittery purple toenails. Always makes me feel good when at least the toes look cute...lol. Got home and AC was acting up again. Hubby vacuumed out the water from the pipe thingy. It seems to have worked, but it's still 82 in here 🥵. Got in a pretty decent 45 minutes on the elliptical at the gym. Cool shower and threw on some leggings and a t-shirt, poured out some peanut butter and blackberry whiskey... (it's like liquid peanut butter and jelly) and it's time to relax. Tomorrow is going to be stressful. The owner and national manager are here for the annual courtesy meeting with the HOA where they give all the reasons why the rent is going up. The HOA president is a lawyer and wants to run things like a Fortune 500 company. He's already sent over a letter outlining all the "legal" reasons for not raising the rent. It's still going to happen. Our park is nearly $200 below market. Personally I'm hoping some of the rent increase goes towards 'rising employee costs' and I get a decent raise. 🤔🤣 Anyway... enjoy your evening! 7
Popular Post kbois Posted September 20, 2021 Popular Post Posted September 20, 2021 I made it through the day, not unscathed, but at least in one piece and not in need of being bailed out of jail. The most stressful thing on the agenda was the one thing that actually went smoothly. The meeting between the owner and the residents was drama free. The rest of the day..... one thing after another. The saying goes "What doesn't kill us, makes us stronger." Well today I was freaking Hercules. Geesh. Glad it's over. Still going to be a busy week, but hopefully won't be too stressful. Hope everyone has a good week. 7

Solus Magus Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 Today has been quite pissing me off. Just how do you deal with bosses who micromanage everything? Hmm. I hope everyone is having a fun day though! 1 4
spyke Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 5 hours ago, Solus Magus said: Just how do you deal with bosses who micromanage everything? Hmm. The short term solution is that you have to figure out a way to direct their attentions away from you either through subtle suggestions or blatantly throwing out a red herring. Long term, you need to look for another job because micromanagers never change. 4 1
kbois Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 Still no A/C. The earliest available time they have is Friday. Had to go get a small window unit for the bedroom. Hopefully they will at least partially reimburse us for it. I sent a request with the receipt. Date night will definitely be anywhere but at home tonight. Maybe dinner out then sunset on the beach..... at least there's always a breeze. Hope everyone else has a good day! 4

Well that just sucks. It might be first day of fall on the calendar, but it's hot and humid here in the South. Glad you were able to at least find a window unit. 2
