It depends. Parents tend to make a big deal over birthdays when their kids are young. Some adults go all out for their birthday, others don't. I think most people tend to celebrate less as they get older unless it's a milestone like 50. Most people I know will acknowledge a birthday in some way... text, social media post or even..*gasp*.. a phone call!

Hmm. I see, I see.

Personally, I like throwing swimming parties for some reason. When I was in my teens, I think there was 6 or 7 consecutive years that would always be a swimming party. LOL. But now? I box of pizza if fine by me. So you're right. We tend to celebrate less as we get older.

Sounds fun -- but my birthday is in November; in Oklahoma. Unless it was an indoor heated pool, you'd freeze your bits off.   lol

Ok, I have officially changed my mind about socialized medicine. The US Healthcare system may be broke but at least stuff like this doesn't leave peeps waiting months for help.

Oh, I don’t know about that.

I’ve had 14 surgeries over my lifetime, and I only had one time when I had to wait a long time (19 days, back in ‘99), and that was because there was a crazy number of brain aneurysm patients who were more urgent than me.

Sometimes, things go quick, and sometimes they don’t.

One good thing, those surgeries were mostly in my childhood with the first four before public healthcare existed. Darn good thing, my dad changed jobs two months before I was born, so his company picked up the tab for my long hospital stay.

Well I've good news and bad news.

Everything went well with the Pre-op until they asked when my last Epileptic seizure was.

Here's the bad news my Op date I had on the 19th Oct has been cancelled as they can't cope if I had a seizure at that hospital.

So have to wait for another date at the correct hospital.

Chris

so sorry to hear this.

Don't be too sure about that. It took me 6 months from diagnosis to get my cancer treatment done because of screw ups. Then to top it off, I had to have the procedure re-done because the machine broke mid-way through. That said, I'm doing really well now with no re-occurrance.

I really hate that for you Chris. I've got my fingers crossed that they can get you into the correct hospital quickly.

My family in Amsterdam have never had issues with the medical care there. At least not that I've ever heard of.

The waiting times seem to be everywhere now though for tests, or specialists. Took me 2 months to get a gastro appointment and another month to do the endoscopy. My sister needed an epidural for neck pain issues and the doctor she was referred to was doing December appointments.

The only quick appointment I had was with a urologist.

Nah, planned outage after that whistle blower interview over the weekend. Got to distract and deflect. 🤣
