So, hey,

tomorrow after a 7-night stay, I get to escape from hospital after this pm I was bumped up to an extra session in theatre to get rid of me! So all that wait for a one-hour exploratory of my heart arteries which I watched live!  Results v positive.
So tomorrow I sleep in my own bed, see the wieners again, and thank goodness for a free at service health system… even if it took a week!

night night, all 🤗

Wonderful news!

Weird Fact of the Day:  Moose can dive over 15 feet underwater to eat seaweed.

Have a nice day.

This is why one of the main predators of moose are orca. 😮

They don't have many predators, wolves could maybe bring down an old sick one. Moose are massive.

Feeling meh today. Looked at a few recipes online for some ideas.

So, got out some of the frozen cooked pork shoulder. Into the crock pot went, frozen butternut squash, about a cup each of peas and corn, sauteed onion and celery, 4 tablespoons of tomato paste, garlic, a bit of cumin and turmeric and paprika, a can of pinto beans (drained and rinsed) and chicken stock, and then the pork. One recipe i looked at said to add a bottle of bbq sauce, a can of creamed corn, and baked beans.. big NO to all of those gross things.

I'll serve this with some leftover mashed potatoes.  Should be good. (i hope) LOL

I don't see how that can go wrong. But it sounds like you dodged a bullet with the omission of the final ingredients. That'd become a soup of ultraprocessed junk. So ... nice choice.

Creamed corn and baked beans together with BBQ sauce? Oh hell no! That's a sodium overload. Everything else sounds good. What time is dinner?

Ohh that could explain what happened  in the kitchen the other day.The Cheerios box was among the things spawned out on the floor. That's what I'm going to tell my roommate at least and I'm going to use your comment as proof. Oh but how did the moose get in?...... Aha he left the door open again so it was his fault

Yeah...we like baked beans, but they have too much sugar commercially and Michael doesn't like anything except beans in tomato sauce. So, the other day i got out my mini crock pot, added a chopped onion, some strained tomato sauce and canned no salt navy beans. I added a little garlic and paprika and left them cooking. They came out so good. Michael was super happy.

I try to have beans most days. They are so good for you.

So, a day out of my week’s holiday in hospital waiting for a cardiograph, I’m now home and tomorrow we are off to a house in the mountains for a long weekend with a group of friends. I so do not want to go but I’m being a good little obedient boy ( believe that if you can) and will even cook paella for the gang whilst they are mountain walking.

Now, a little puzzle for you all: Lufthansa has just written to me to fxxk up my trip to UK to see my poorly sister in two weeks. They have just cancelled 20,000 flights thanks to a little problem with kerosene price… Thanks to you know who... There are no direct flights so I go via Germany or Switzerland to Birmingham, UK. Three out of four of my flights have been cancelled, but with the last leg unaffected (Frankfurt to Valencia).  They have rebooked me on different flights/airports etc.  Excellent, you might think. no prob on outward flight. Actually gives me more time to guarantee luggage gets into onward flight. However…… my return flight first leg from Uk to Germany now arrives 5 hours after the untouched onward “connecting” flight will have departed.  Ummmm this is so not good for my heart issues.  Overnight in Frankfurt? Try to rebook an uncancelled fourth leg?

Is anyone willing to ring Lufthansa for me? Ah, there is no number to call……. I just want my $700 back…..    😭

I'm not sure what the rules are in Europe, but in the US, if the airline has a schedule change and the changes are not ok with you, you have the right to a refund if you can't change the flights to something that will work for you. At the very least, you should be able to receive a credit for the full amount which is good for 1 year from the original purchase date.

In the travel industry, we used to cite Rule 240. That would shut up any airline rep who tried to stonewall us or our clients.

Good luck trying to rebook. Incidents like this is why I'm glad I'm out of that industry. Its way to common.

I got my taxes done early this year. That's a first for me. Uncle Sam was nice enough to give me a nice chunk of our money back to us. I had to file state taxes for the first time in 17 years. Chalk one up to no Florida state income tax.

Did not go to Salem today because the SIL left early this morning. I thought she was leaving tomorrow so..... Yay for that nice surprise! My son had plans for today so neither hubs nor I wanted to leave his mom alone all day. Poor woman is exhausted after being dragged around by her daughter for 3 days.

Anyhoo.... We decided to take a short drive up north to Yankee Candle....yes...that Yankee Candle. Its their main store which is down the street from their big factory where they make all the stuff.

Let's just say my husband has added another location to "the places kbois is not allowed"

What? The candies were buy 1 get 1 50% off!!!!!

I don't know why it never occurred to me that yankee candles would be a New England based company lol

Yes, it was good. There was a lot leftover (no meat) so today we added chicken from the freezer and served it over a blend of rice, lentils and quinoa. There's still more left. I will likely add curry powder etc and chicken and we'll eat it with some additional veggie like roasted cauliflower.

Geez, could you drive to the Netherlands and take a ferry?  I know it's not exactly a short trip to drive there. But maybe you'd actually arrive. Assuming they have fuel.
