Happy Friday!

billing went off without a hitch, great conversation with a new operations manager who had no clue about our systems or what"progressive billing" was, handled a client call, and early release with a "good job this week"

Phil had burgers ready for the grill ❤️ i made a loaf of potato bread for the weekend and we watched the splash down of Integrity in the Pacific Ocean

i hope that everyone here had a good day and has good plans for the weekend

Lol.. since i hadn't been here since earlier Friday, when I arrived here today and saw this i thought.. OMG is it only Friday? After a moment i figured it out.. LOL

Today, made breakfast, tried to find ice packs for my wounded warrior, to no avail. i will have to get some.  I don't have any rubbing alcohol around atm, i don't think.. i'll go look however.

Lunch was greek salad, (onion, cucumber, tomatoes, red wine vinegar, feta cheese and kalamata olives)  today i added some tuna in olive oil to go with it.  It was very good and Michael liked it too.. it got a 'lovely' from Him. :D

Then i baked black bean brownies, made refried beans with the rest of the black beans, sliced up a pound of strawberries and did the dishes.

Dinner is beef nachos.. with refried beans.

I hope all of you are having a super day.  :)

Ok my fellow DiCers. I need a little feedback. I'm considering changing doctors (a specialist not my primary).

Unfortunately it would involve switching to a different medical group for this specialty, which may be a pain when it comes to continuity of care and communication of medical records as they don't share systems.

Have any of you ever changed doctors for any reason other than a change in insurance (which sucks sometimes) and were you happy with your decision?

You need to be happy with your doctor. i've had some that didn't like me/us cuz we're gay so yes, we changed, but it's easier for us even if we need a referral. But we have other issues to contend with. Also I think it depends on what you are being treated for. Mine was mental health, so, sort of important to see someone who understands you and the issue.

If you're unhappy now, i'd consider a change.

I changed my pulmonary doctor when I kept getting the run around from him and everyone associated with his practice. I actually got a recommendation from the amazing receptionist at my dentist's office who knew a PA at a great practice, so I booked a consult. The PA is great and  she took one look at the CD of my last lung scan and immediately said "You've got emphysema." Long story short, I've been under her care now for 3 years and my last lung function test was so much better than my prior 2. They have no problems communicating with my primary care providers and vice a versa. The same "network" thing isn't a barrier or concern if you have good providers and they have each others contact information.

Your health is too important to put up with a crappy doctor. Make the change.

Lots depends on WHY you want to change. When mom' oncologist insisted on speaking to us like we were toddlers and regularly answered questions with various versions of " because I said so" we fou b d a new one. When I told him we were changing docs he told me we could not do that, I informed him, loud enough for the patients in the  chemo room to hear "Your bedside manor sucks, as does your attitude. Read my lips, you are FIRED." and we walked out.

New oncologist read her file, changed just about everything about her treatments, and said the old guy was an out of date quack.

Change over was actually fairly easy and worth every bit of the hassle of strangling the records out of the old guy. The 3x a week calls from his office asking when I was bringing her in for her next appointment not so much. I finally blocked them and reported the office when the message he left himself asked if I was trying to kill my mother.

Thanks, the advice helps.

I've gone ahead and applied for the specialty program at the other hospital. If it goes through then I'll switch. If not I'll still dump the other doctor and reevaluate other options.

I went out with a friend tonight and we talked at length. She started getting mad for me and basically said my current doc should "go eff himself". I love my friend.

I've never been uncomfortable with a doctor before. I guess I was overdue. I feel better about my decision and am working on not being so hard on myself over this.

Good. You're doing such a great job working toward your goals. But you have to be kinder to yourself. I'm glad you talked to your friend and she agreed with all of us.
Make a list of all the positive things you've been doing.. all of them, so you can see them in front of you.

Keep up the good work and keep a little journal. That can help.   :)

Deep breath. Hold. Slow exhale.

Pick up biggest frying pan. Slow evil grin. Put frying pan away.

Back away slowly.

Namaste.

@MichaelS36

...go get the foot looked at. I've got firsthand experience of why it's not a good idea to put it off. You really don't want to battle a chronic foot pain issue for a year and a half. Trust me on this. Xo

I know that feeling! Sometimes I think his Healthcare is a function of my ability to work past his roadblocks!

Sorry all, I don't usually comment but something caught my eye!

@MichaelS36, go see a doctor tomorrow, not the next day or the day after. There is a thing you can look up called Diabetic Neuropathy that will scare the shit out of you, but you need to go read about and and do something about it.

I am not a doctor, but a 53 year Type 1 diabetic that has lost a few friends that were Type 2 and had foot pain in the beginning 😢 I lost my leg due to catching flesh eating disease in the hospital after a car accident, Not from neuropathy, but I don't care if we never talk, I don't want you to live a life without a foot, a lower leg, or the entire leg. I would not wish that on anyone.

Please go see the doctor  You can stop it before it gets any worse!

I agree wholeheartedly! That's how my husband lost 3 toes this past winter. Stepped on a small piece of wire, did not feel it due to diabetic neuropathy, ignored the swelling from the infection, and hid it all from me till the thing turned a pretty shade of green. When I found out and dragged him kicking and screaming to the ED they removed the toes and basically split his foot in half to clean the infection.

If you need to scare him into it I can send pics of his foot at various stages of healing starting with the first bandage change after surgery.

No, no, please don't send those.  Thankfully, there is nothing like that going on, no open wounds or anything. It's looking much better today, but He will still see the doctor. It's painful, like the start of P.F. is, but it's less swollen etc.

Well, i'm up before noon, which is good. But we are having several hours of thunderstorms, which just make me want to go back to bed and hide.

I'm undecided on how i feel about life today. Truly.

Hope everyone has a day.

Same for me.

The sun came out a bit ago, so I got to hoping that was it for the day regardless of what the forecast was saying.

Sadly, it is clouding up again, so I’m thinking there will be more thunderstorms later today as predicted.

Here’s to hoping the warm temps and clearish skies will last for a while at least.

While I'm grateful it's not subzero outside, I still don't like to be hot. Our office was so stuffy today. If there was a breeze it would've been fine because it's a beautiful 80 degrees and not that humid, and we get a nice cross breeze on a windy day, but the air was stuffy even with the windows open. I'm looking forward to opening the car windows on the ride home tonight. I kinda envy dogs being able to stick their heads out the window lol.

I broke out the sunscreen today. High temp hit 87*. It's too early for this nonsense! And being April in NJ the possibility of wintery storms here is not past yet. We have had very cold rain/wet snow as late as May1.

Weird Things of the Day:   Red rain, or blood rain, is a real phenomenon where Saharan dust mixes with rain, turning it red and occurring a few times a year. Also, Salvador Dalí designed the logo for Chupa Chups lollipops.

There you are.

It is common in Italy and Spain too but not on a huge scale, nevertheless cars are left covered in red sand.  Annoying if you’ve just washed it!
