Poetry posted in this category are works of fiction. Names, places, characters, events, and incidents are created by the authors' imaginations or are used fictitiously. Any resemblances to actual persons (living or dead), organizations, companies, events, or locales are entirely coincidental.

Disasters, Delights and Other Detours - 34. November Days

These five Haiku were written as autumn made its abrupt transition into winter. Any errors or problematic lines are my fault entirely.

Gold and scarlet leaves

float downstream on swift water,

passing to the sea.

*

Twelve November geese

fly southward in formation,

honking directions.

*

Icy rain and snow

cling to branches and wet bark,

baring the woods’ bones.

*

Orange maple leaves

fret and flutter on fresh snow,

searching for the grass.

*

Drab grey clouds hang low,

blowing mist through bare forests,

caressing the hills.

My deep thanks go to @AC Benus for his help in improving these. Leave a comment or a thought, if you are so moved. Thank you for reading, as always.

Oh, I LOVE THIS ❤️ Wow, many compliments. The sound, the rhythm, and of course the content perfectly capture the feeling I would like to express when I wander around at this time of the year in nature. Your words leave me a bit melancholic but not in a negative way, it's a certain feeling I've always associated with autumn.

It's all about the details and they are arranged most artfully.

You just made me blush like a maple leaf. Your words are most kind. These days are kind of melancholy, you’re quite right. They are both parting and preparation, perhaps. Thank you for taking time to read these, and for letting me share a bit of November.

Wonderful, Parker. I love haiku. This was my favorite... love the alliteration... and "searching for the grass" is so poetically apt. :)

When it snows before all the leaves fall from the trees, they wind up blanketing the snow. It’s an incongruous sight. I couldn’t help noting it in this group. Thank you so much for reading and for your comment.
