Tristan's High School Life - 38. Chapter 38
Tristan's POV
The next day I woke spooned up against Hunter, and it didn't feel weird like I thought it should. We stayed like this until Hunter started to stir.
"Good morning," I said
"Morning," Hunter replied while stretching. When Hunter moved and got out of bed, I was shocked at what I saw.
"What's wrong, Tristan," Hunter asked, confused.
"You've grown," I said. "A whole heck of a lot."
He looked down and was shocked too.
"I'm like a whole foot or so taller," he shrieked.
"I wonder what happened. That's a heck of a growth spurt," I said in disbelief.
"I feel weird," Hunter said, sitting on the edge of the bed.
"We need to talk to Grandma," I said, getting up. "First, we need to get dressed."
After I got dressed, I made Hunter change into my clothes as his clothes looked ridiculous on him. We made our way to Grandma's and found Xander, Dom, and Grandma having breakfast.
"Who's your friend," Dom asked.
"It's Hunter," I said, which caused Grandma's head to shoot up.
"Hunter?" Grandma questioned.
"Yeah, it's me. I've had a growth spurt," Hunter replied, blushing.
"I'd say," Xander said, giggling.
"This happened overnight? No hanky panky?" Grandma asked with a straight face.
"Grandma!" we both said, shocked.
"Usually, something like this would happen then," Grandma said, shrugging.
"He's my brother, and I am seeing someone else," I said, agitated.
"Hunter, could you fetch your Grandma Jillian," Grandma asked.
"Grandma might want to prepare them," I said, pointing at Xander and Dom.
Grandma waved her hand and stopped time just as Hunter and Jillian arrived in spirit.
"You asked for me?" Jillian said.
"Yes, what do you make of this?" Grandma said, pointing at Hunter.
"Oh, his growth spurt? It was bound to happen; he just needed someone in his corner to stand up for him." Jillian said
"So I caused this?" I asked
"No, your actions made him confident, and his body did the rest," Jillian clarified.
"This is so weird," I said
"Listen, Tristan; you stood up for your brother. Now it wasn't the greatest way, but you did it. Your great-grandfather Tristan and I have been talking, and your speech to them hit many of the marks. We've been disappointed in how many things have been going and try to steer things to correct them, but we can't always interfere," Jillian said.
"So what now," I asked.
"You need to remain in Hunter's corner and let things work themselves out," Jillian said.
"Is there anything else we need to know," Grandma asked?
Jillian looked at Hunter and seemed to go into a catatonic state.
"Hunter is going to have some struggles in his life that will require patience and lots of love. Tristan, your job is to be his big brother and love him," Jillian said
"What kind of struggles?" I asked.
"You'll know when they happen, and Caroline, I need you to make sure no one interferes with Tristan and Hunter," Jillian said. "Especially TJ and Jackson."
"They are Hunter's parents," Grandma said.
"I understand, but they aren't the greatest when it comes to being fluid and understanding. TJ is so much like his father with a touch of his mother," Jillian said.
"I can do that," Grandma confidently replied.
As quickly as she arrived, Jillian left. Grandma and I stood there starring at each other for a while when she resumed time and brought Hunter back.
"What happened?" he asked, confused.
"Jillian needed to tell us something privately," Grandma replied
"We need to get you new clothes," I said.
"Let TJ and Jackson do that," Grandma said, looking in the direction of the door, and TJ came through the door.
"Have you seen your brother?" TJ asked, and everyone giggled. "What's so funny."
"I'm right here, dad," Hunter said
"What!" TJ shouted
"I had a growth spurt," Hunter said
"No, what did you do, Tristan," TJ barked.
"Cool your tits, dad," Hunter said.
"What did you say?" TJ said, his anger level rising.
"Tristan James Michaels Junior," Grandma said sternly. "First, Tristan did nothing. Secondly, you will watch your tone in my house."
"Sorry," TJ said, recoiling.
"He needed someone in his corner, and when I backed him and helped with the bullies, he grew confident and had a growth spurt," I said
"I confirmed this with your Grandmother, Jillian, that this was all Hunter," Grandma said.
"So he needed a confidence boost?" TJ said
"It's more than that, dad; you don't seem to understand me," Hunter said morosely.
"When you have septuplets and then twins, it can be hard to keep track of everyone," TJ said
"Your his father, and you seem to have no problem keeping track of Jamie, Mattie, and Katie," I growled.
"He is correct TJ, you and Jackson do have your favorites," Grandma said.
"That's a lie," TJ said half-heartedly.
"You know it's true, and you need to do something about it," I said.
After a back and forth, TJ finally caved, and Grandma said she would help TJ and Jackson adjust. Hunter went home with TJ, and they were going out to find him some new clothes. Dom left to hang out with Justin so that just left Xander and me.
"So Xan, what do you want to do," I asked?
"Well, I thought we could watch a movie," he replied
"A movie? Is that all?" I said with a chuckled
"Maybe a make-out session," Xander said, blushing
"There's my babe," I said, smiling.
We went to my place and didn't watch a movie at all, just a heavy make-out session that ended with us having silly grins on our faces.
The next day I found out that the siblings were in awe of Hunter's growth spurt and were surprised. The only person who didn't say anything was Jackson. I tried to read his mind, but I was coming up blank, which was weird.
Later that day, we all went over to Aunt Kat's brownstone to have a cookout in her courtyard. Uncle Jimmy was leaving the next day and wanted some of Jackson's barbeque. As I was sitting next to Xander, I had a flash-forward, and with everyone in suits, TJ's eyes were red, and Jackson was nowhere to be found.
