Sorting it out

Ok, so the first week of school is over and shockingly enough, I haven't got any major catastophic events to write about. The work seems pretty simple (so far) and it's kinda nice not to be at the bottom of the food chain anymore. Last year wasn't so bad, as far as being a freshman went, but it's nice to be able to say I'm a sophomore. I had a good talk with my dad yesterday on the way home from the doctors office. I had an appointment at 11 and had to leave school at 9:30, and on the way back

Yippee!

Yes! I finally got my computer back! *does a happy dance   Okay, so a couple months ago my videocard burnt out. If I had money, it could have been fixed in two days. I didn't have money, so I had to go out and get some... finally got the money and everything all ready, sent it in, and have it back again! I can finally start writing again and of course, I'll be dropping by chat much more often now. I'm officially a part of the community again.   ~Deme

I resigned

Yep, I resigned from the WST yesterday. I almost regret doing, it but not quite. when I joined the team, I had hoped to make a diffrence, but with work going into overdrive, and the committee responsabilities, I found that I was starting to miss my writing more and more.   I also found that my stress levels had gotten to the point where everything was starting to push me toward a depressive mood swing. The one thing that confirmed my need to resign was one word. when something is bought it t

VAMPIRES (rambling)

Ok here are the true Vampire facts that I unfortunatly learned   Within hours of being bitten, the victim develops a headache, fever, chills and other flu-like symptoms as the body tries to fight off the infection. These symptoms can be easily confused with more common viral infections, although the presence of bite marks on the body are usually enough to confirm the diagnosis. This stage generally lasts between six and twelve hours.Within 24 hours of being bitten, the victim will slip into a

How come a day off is never REALLY a day off?

The answer to that, my friends, is... a) I'm a grown up b ) I'm a mom c) I'm a wife d) I'm a control freak e) All of the above... If you guessed 'e' folks... you would be correct.   But in bigger and better news... It's my baby's birthday today! So that means that eleven years ago today... I was having my first baby and... trying not to die, almost literally... But, she's eleven today, obviously, and as much as I whine about her attitude and her... normal young girl behavior, she is

Borland is Back!

Back in the eighties if you had anything to do with computer programming, Borland's Turbo Pascal and Turbo C were all the rage. Borland created Intergrated Development Environments (IDEs) that allowed programmers to write, edit, compile and debug code all in one program. Since then, IDEs have become something of an industry standard like JavaBeans and Eclipse.   Well, Borland is back!   You can download for free Turbo Explorer compilers for C++, C# and Delphi. Free is always the right pric

I got a job! Woo-hoo!

I just got a call from the translation company I interviewed at about a month ago, the first interview I went on. They called me last week to tell me that they were about ready to bring me on board, but just needed to check out my references. Today, they called me with the official offer to be their new project manager, and will be paying me $40K a year, plus benefits, free parking, etc., etc. I'll be starting next Monday, and I'm VERY relieved to finally have something. It's not what I want to

A thousand posts later

The following is a list of people who, one way or another, helped me get to a thousand posts here at Gay Authors. If I wasn't fighting with you in the soapbox about Hurricane Katrina, I was saying something irritating on an author forum somewhere to make your blood boil or make you say, "I agree" Or maybe you said, WTF??? A lot of the people listed here are dont post here anymore, but maybe they still come by to read the forums and the blogs, and if they do, thanks. I couldn't have done it wit

A perfect day!

***Warning this blog entry is long, rambling, and insanely enthusiastic and cheerful (and a real delight to write). I'll definitely looks like a stupid, ditzy, flammer. So read at your own risk ***   Hey Everyone!   So I know I said I was going to write about something "heavy" and I still intend to, but I just had too awesome of a day today. So Instead I'm going to talk about that!   So first of all I stayed up all night relaxing and reading. Then in the morning Vance got on and we ch

More kitten pics

Took more pics of Little Girl and her new babies. She is a very good mama and tends to lie on top of them when anyone wants to look at them Of course, they don't really like that very much. But I have managed to get a decent pic of the babies all happily dining:     I stole one of the babies while Little Girl was eating and took this pic. Strange color. Four of them have similar coloring. The fifth one is darker and may be black or dark tiger.     Edit: Well, we have MORE bab

Babies

Went to the Fonda Fair tonight. They had one normal demolition derby and one farm combine demolition derby. This is the first year they had one of those and it didn't quite go as planned. They ended up with only 2 combines--an International and a John Deere. They had planned on 2 more, but they couldn't get them running. But it was different. It was dark and my camera battery was low, so I didn't get a great pic--and only of the International. That's the one that won, though. The John De

I don't understand it* Updated on Sunday

:Authors Note::::::: I realize that this isn't the original post....however, I decided that the point I was trying to make was taken by everyone loud and clear, and there's no sense in leaving my past rant in place. I'm not sorry that I posted it here, but I don't see the need to keep it up. I made my opinions known, and everyone's had the chance to read what I said and to form their own opinion. I love this site and I always will. I would never do anything to take away from the purpose of it,

Yes, I'd love some cheese with this whine

Well, I started a job Monday. No way I could possibly live on unemployment and I haven't even gotten a call in response to any resumes I have sent. So when you can't seem to get a job in your field, you have to take what you can get. So I am doing something that doesn't use any part of my brain at all. I get a list, find the products on huge warehouse shelves and move it onto a truck. Lovely. Fun. The money isn't bad--nearly what I was making in my real job. But the hours suck.   Which

Animal testing and the Joy of Gay Sex

{Paraphrased scene from Friends}   Ross to Susan as he surveys their book collection: "You guys sure have a lot of books about being a lesbian" Susan: "Yeah, well you have to pass a test or the won't let you do it"   So I was at Barnes & Noble and I realized that my own personal library was completely devoid of books about being gay. So I sauntered (I was going for a gay book after all) over to the Gay Studies section. A long with three other titles (I'm also now the proud owner of Th

3 Day Weekend!

I'm so excited about this three day weekend! I don't believe I've ever looked forward to an extra day off this much. Work is just too darn stressful lately. I'm grouchy and tired, I guess this is what real work is! I shoulda known I wouldn't get to just sit around and just makes ads, that would be too much fun! My problem? People keep getting fired and I keep getting their jobs! I am now doing what three people did two months ago. Another person is leaving in 3 weeks, on their own accord a

The Classified Ad (story)

I was thumbing through the Want Ads in the Maricopa County Tribune when this classified advertisement caught my eye. It said, "Take immediate delivery on this 1957 Chevrolet half-ton pickup truck. Will sell or swap for a hide-a-bed and thirty-five bucks. Call 602-265-5550 ring two, and ask for Bob."   Well, I called Bob up on the telephone, he says, "Hello, this is Bob speaking." I says "This here the Bob that got the pickup truck for sale?" He says, "Yeah." I says, "Where are ya?" He says,

The Boy (story)

Well I found him sitting on a Sioux City park bench one cold November afternoon. Me.. I was just drifting thru. He said he was 14 and he was running away from home, and no he wouldn't mind some company. So I sat down and smoked my last cigarette he pulled out a candy bar. And we started talking about the how's and the why's and we watched the first snow start to fall. I said "Hey little dude", now I know the whole world looks a lot better to you now, but you know, you gotta hold onto your home c

The Little Brown Sparrow (poem)

One green April morning when I was a young boy I lay by the window watching the rain And I wondered if ever the sun would come shining So I could go somewhere to play   Then down from the sky flew a little brown sparrow And he landed on a branch of an old willow tree And he sit there watching as I lay wondering Just the little brown sparrow and me   Then he looked in my window and spied his reflection There was the willow, there was the sky And he wondered if ever the sun w

Alferd Packer (poem)

Alfred Packer the guy who had a few friends for dinner back in 1874 was the only person in the U.S.A. who was ever convicted of cannibalism. Late in January of 1874 the 6 men found shelter and food at Chief Ouray's camp near Montrose, Colorado. On February 9th, Packer and five companions left the camp, contrary to the advice of Ouray. Packer arrived alone at the Los Pinos Indian Agency, near Saguache, Colorado on April 16th, 1874. He was fat and had plenty of money. He admitted that he had live
