JamesSavik Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 I ask this as I read scientific papers about the sequencing of RNA in Alphaviruses. Yes. I go that extra mile for my readers.
Former Member Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 So far? I think it's a tie between the history of cryogenically preserving sperm and tucking (the process by which MtF transgender women 'tuck' what's down there). I go that extra mile too James XD RNA sequencing of alphaviruses. That sounds nifty

Ieshwar Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 (edited) Weirdest has to be about Moths. But my deepest research has to be about Indian classical dance. Read interviews, read ebooks, watch videos, listened to the music and even tried it at home. Fascinating... Edited November 1, 2013 by Ieshwar 1

W_L Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 The rise of heroin and hookers in Wall Street Firms prior to 2008. Sad and tragic in so many ways, too bad I never finished that story.
Thorn Wilde Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Wow, I don't even know... At one time I did some pretty in-depth research on available technologies for drilling into a kilometre of ice without risk of contaminating the water underneath. In trying my hand at various sci-fi ideas I've had, I've done research on time travel, string theory and various forms of space travel, but I never finished any of those stories. 1

The Pecman Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 I had a character in one of my novels charged with murder, so I read an entire non-fiction book on what it was like to go to prison, and also a series of articles on police procedure and death by lethal injection. It opened up my eyes to a whole world I knew nothing about. The details made the story a lot richer and more vivid. Often, I adhere to the old chestnut "write what you know." But that doesn't mean you can't force yourself to learn more, and then have the ability to write about experiences far beyond your own life, time, place, and circumstances.
