Author Guess Who #10

Wow, there are a lot of things going on in the world right now. And it's been a few months since I did one of these, so, I thought, maybe it's time for something a little light-hearted, like maybe a new Author Guess Who!!!!  The reveal will happen on August 26th!! Now, who thinks they can figure out this month's author???   What is one thing that most GA members might not know about you? That's a broad range to choose from. I don't say much about myself. OK – I'm fascinated by spi

Defund the Police?

I can honestly say that I don't enjoy how my country is being hit by cries and protests to defund the police. But, I can't blaim them. Today I neither trust or respect law enforcement in my state. It didn't use to be that way. I remember when I was growing up, most of our city and county officers were like Andy Griffith and Barney Fife. They helped us when we were lost. When I drove alone for the first time and wrecked my mothers car they helped me and the car get home, granted I still got a tic

Featured Story: His Story

Welcome to another Monday! Once again, the review team has a new story review to hopefully whet your appetite. If you do read, don't forget to leave a review! His Story Drew Payne Reviewer: Parker Owens Status: Complete Word Count: 9,305 Life is hard enough being different. It’s harder still when that difference is accentuated, made stark in bold relief, by the church in which a boy is raised to become a man. Although this story is set in the U.K., it describes a kind of abu

Weekly Wrap Up (Aug. 2 - Aug.8)

Oops  I actually forgot that I'm back from holidays, well camping, and I told the gracious Renee I would do the wrap up. Well last night, a barley pop or two, I was watching TV and then crawled into bed. I totally forgot that last night was Saturday night   I referred to Renee as gracious, as she was kind enough to do the wrap up for me the past couple of weeks. So let's all give a shout out to her for stepping in!! As mentioned, I was camping the past week and a bit. Had a great

Remembering Hiroshima

Today marks seventy five years since an atomic bomb was detonated over the Japanese city of Hiroshima, followed three days later by one being detonated over Nagasaki. No-one will ever know how many tens or hundreds of thousands died as a result. I was born just over two years after these horrific events, and grew up in post-war England where I remember a constant national worry about a possible nuclear war. The term "four minute warning" still echoes in my head to this day. That was conside

disconnects of camping

Todays requested topic is camping. I decided to take a comical approach to the topic and relay a few mishaps that have happened on camping trips. Yes, some of them happened to me, and some of them happened to friends. When I was younger I was a member of cub scouts, and then boy scouts. That relates to a lot of camping experience. Once I received my Eagle Scout award and my bronze and silver I aged out and became an active member of a GO (gay outdoors) chapter. Over twenty years later I still ge

Ask an Author 2.0 #34

We’re changing things up this month. Instead of one question being asked of several individuals, we’re back to one author one query. One being the operative word. @Myr was kind enough to provide a detailed response, so I’m featuring it by itself. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. ҉҉҉ Why did you decide to start Gay Authors and how did you go about it? Also, how has it lived up to your expectations and how has it diverged from your original intent? ҉҉҉ Why did I decide to st

August CSR Feature: Electricity by MozLover21

Welcome to August. Wow, I can't believe we've already made it here. Summer in the northern hemisphere is in full bore, but we can see the end in sight. Change is in the air, and what better way celebrate that than with a tale about personal change? And sports! Football!! Yes it's American football, people, but this is the month for it. Plus, don't forget to congratulate MozLover21 on being a member of GA for a year on August 16th!! Electricity by @MozLover21   Length: 74,284

Parenting 101

I'm not sure if i look at things differently because I've never raised my own kids. I've spent a lot of time raising other peoples kids. I signed off on my son when he was three years old. With all that considered, I don't think i count as anything close to a parenting expert. However I can't help but wonder what has happened to parenting these days. I've seen quite a few atrocities and sat there and wondered how a parent could get to that level. Let me give you a few examples of what I've seen

Weekly Wrap Up (Jul 26 - Aug 01)

Yep, that's right, you're stuck with me again. I think @wildone will be back next week, at least last I knew.  I slacked a bit for a Wednesday post, but we still had a couple new blog posts. Also, the theme suggestion thread is closed, and voting will start just as soon as I figure out how I'm doing the voting for this year. As all themes will have the potential to be used, things are probably going to be switched up a bit. So keep an eye out on the blogs for info regarding the voting for next y
