Anticipation

So I was on my way home from work, listening to Sirius because they are having a 4 month free promo and I'm all about free! So I'm jamming away to U2, and my brain reminds me of seeing them in concert 2 years ago. That got me thinking about how sad it is that concerts have pretty much been cancelled for the rest of the year.  I realized that of all the things that Covid has taken away, I really miss having something to look forward to.  I was lucky enough to see U2 in Tampa in 2017 and

Featured Story: Songs of the Heart

Well, its the start of another week! I hope you had a great weekend. Today, we're featuring a review of Songs of the Heart by Jordn87.  Songs of the Heart Jordn87 Reviewer: spikey582 Status: Complete Word Count: 27,938 It’s been awhile since I last posted a review in our Featured Story blog, and I actually spent a lot of time debating which story I would review next. Then in June, Jordn87 reposted an updated version of his story Songs of the Heart, and I had my story. This w

Weekly Wrap Up (Jul. 5 - Jul. 11)

Well I never  😮  Usually I try to work a word of the day into the Weekly Wrap Up of late. Generally I try to look in everyday to check out the word of the day and see how I can use it in the wrap up. This week has been a hectic week and I have not been diligent in reading them everyday. So we find ourselves on a Saturday night and I check to see what word I can use, and I find this entry! I think this is the second time I have been used in an example of usage of the word, but wonderin

Syndicate Character Art

It’s been a while since I’ve drawn anything. Still working through some tutorial videos, still trying to figure out my style.  I wanted to try and make some different shaped faces today, so here’s Ronnie & Taran! It occurred to me that I’ve given Taran 90s heartthrob hair, but I have no regrets. EDITED: I got some coloring done today, so I thought I would include that as well!

Rant

Changes are needed in our world.  So many of them it's hard to sort out.  Life is a gift.  Yet we take it lightly. We disrespect it.  Why, in this day and age, we fear our differences is frankly, stupid, ignorant and childish.  We live in an age of great knowledge. We live in great melting pots filled with people from everywhere. And rather than stop and learn about each other, we hide in the corner like frightened children.  Stop blaming. Stop being afraid. We are all just human

The Future of GA Anthologies

In 2012, I took over from Graeme to become the latest Anthology Coordinator. I want to make it clear, I'm a volunteer, just like all the other staff on site and I don't volunteer for the kudos, the recognition, or any reason other than I want to contribute to the site. In the 8 years since I took over the anthology, I have tried my best to improve the anthologies. Some of these changes have met with approval (with only a few complaints), and some of them have been met with numerous complaints (a

GA's Newest Promising Author: Wayne Gray

Please join myself and the Author Promotion Team in congratulating @Wayne Gray in becoming GA's newest Promising Author. Wayne joined GA in February 2019, bringing with him a wonderful collection of stories. Not only did he post those previously written stories, but he's continued to add new stories and poetry while he's been a member. Check out Ash and Ember for a story about someone down on their luck, but too proud to accept charity, or Camp Refuge about the creation of a camping ground

July CSR Feature: I Do Like to be Beside the Seaside by Ivor Slipper

Well, we made it halfway through 2020. Kicking and screaming, fighting the world, or maybe just resigned to the reality that is facing us. Honestly, I really liked the title of this story, which is what initially caught my eye. "How true!" I thought. "But can it be that lighthearted of a tale?"  Then I wanted to know more. How about you? So while you're facing whatever your reality is, how about escaping into this story instead.... I Do Like to be Beside the Seaside by @Ivor Slipper
