May CSR Feature: Deeds of Their Past by mcarss

    By Cia

I've been featuring short stories lately, I thought I'd give you all something to sink your teeth into. Read outside in the sunshine or inside away from the torrential rain (if it's anything like it is here in Washington right now!) but come back on Monday, May 27th to share your thoughts!  Deeds of Their Past by @mcarss Length: 66,950 Description: Nathan—a man who lives life in shadow and solitude—finds himself hunted due to an old assignment. While awaiting his execution, h

Weekly Wrap Up (Apr. 28 - May 4)

    By wildone

Any and all spelling and grammar mistakes are fully mine and not the fault of my editors. Maybe I should think about getting an editor for once   Today, as in this afternoon I went to the Calgary International Beer Fest. Over 200 Craft breweries with over 700 types of beers, spirits, ciders and meads 😮 Oh my. Considered the largest in Canada and one of the top 5 in the world. Somehow I had a few shots of moonshine too!  I may or nay not be a bit tipsy  If I had the foresight, I could h

:]!

I saw him outside of work today and I didn't even have to initiate it! My friend wanted to come see him, so when she came by I introduced them and she absolutely loved him. She said we were totally flirting, so that's good. He brought up dinner with another coworker of mine, and when she mentioned that I got off at the same time, she said he sounded really excited and wanted her to invite me. We all ended up going together, and it was amazing.   During the meal, at one point he kept

New Story Update!

Well ... some good news ...   Chapter 1 of the new story is ready to go (it's called "When I See You Again" -- same title as a previous effort I made, but totally different story, characters, etc. ... I just liked the title ... hehe). Sharon has finished editing, and I'll be sending it to Joe at the end of this week once I have all of the pages for my site updated. Chapter 2 has also just been sent to Sharon for the first edit, then I'll revise it some more and send it back one more time for a

What'd you learn in school today?

I always hated it when my parents would ask me that. It was either "How was school?" or "What'd you learn today?"...   How was school? It's school, how do you think it was! Honestly, who really wants to wake up that early and go to class?   What'd I learn? Based on the fact that I usually slept through my classes, not much! Except today... today was an exception because I learned that there are an extremely large number of hot guys at our school this year. The incoming freshman are so good l

Finally, I Get to Use Them in a Story

I finished the short story I will probably submit for the Fall Anthology. Worked on it all night. Actually, I went a bit beyond all night, but I felt I needed to finish it so I could submit it. (Does it sound like I haven't had enough sleep?)   It's sort of a prequel to my Summer Anthology story. This story is about the First Watcher and kind of everything leading up to the establishment of Glandar.   What I like about the new story is I was able to bring in the 'xrsc and other members of th

Nearly Two Years Later...

So it's a bit silly to be posting this particular blog entry right now, but I was sitting here wondering just how long it's been since I first got a blog here. Turns out it's been nearly two years! My first entry was on November 17th 2005! Since then I've posted 117 entries (counting this one), which comes out to about one per week, but which of course in practice is more like 2 or 3 one week, then 2 or 3 the next month (if that many in some months).   It seems that I posted the most entrie

Sometimes...

I am only your boyfriend some of the time. The rest of the time I am nothing. My voice has no words My mind is without content My heart has no value I exist, as only a broken shadow in your mind. For I am only your boyfriend some of the time.   I look back through my blogs here, public and private... I look back through e-mails, many I never sent... I look back over my life and for so... so long I have been unhappy - in a desperate struggle with my boyfriend to get him to show the love h

Questions, Answers, and Me

I guess LOst Cause started this, then Ieshwar got into the act, and then I said I'd do one, too.   But first, a word from our sponsor:   I was working on Tim and the Corsair tonight getting things ready for a totally remodelled ending and caught myself laughing at the jokes. Do you ever do that? Can you go back and read something you wrote a year ago and still laugh at the jokes? Or, is it just me?   Anyway, I think I've got the ending fairly well figured out, but not totally scoped out. B

More Updates

Back in January, I did a blog called, It's War I tell you, It's war where I complained about the tenant downstairs. This past Labor Day weekend, Sunday to be precise, I got up at 6 in the morning. At one point I heard a beeping noise coming from downstairs. I thought it was here alarm clock going off. I went to the kitchen to turn on the coffee maker. As I turned to leave the kitchen, I looked out the window to see smoke coming out from under the awning over her porch. I immediately put on my sh

Tim and the Corsair

Man, was I drunk last night, or what?   I haven't felt that bad in years. And, this morning!   I quit over-indulging for what happened this morning. I was sick. My stomach had a hole in it that still hasn't completely healed.   Anyway, that didn't stop me from getting Chapter 5 of The Pastel Cowboy posted on eFiction. I was hesitant in posting this chapter because it delves into a rather despicable area, but when I originally wrote this for Nifty I needed to get rid of a couple characters

Never making it to shore.

This poem is straight from the heart, very emotional, very metaphorical, and possibly tear jerking. You've been warned.   I was walking across a rope bridge Behind me, my life without you Before me, the day I move in with you Below me, no rivine, nor rushing stream Below me lay a vastly wide river Moving warm and slow To nowhere I'd rather go Than the other side.   You were standing on the other side When I saw you disappear, And a moment of confusion crossed my mind When you retur

Labor Day Weekend

The Labor Day weekend was pretty good. I did some organizing of paperwork, which is a nice, relaxing anal-retentive task. Scott and Sam think I am nuts for finding that relaxing.   We spent a lot of time outside this weekend. The weather was great and the pool was nice. I don't have a bandage to worry about anymore, so took advantage of the pool. We had a water balloon fight at one point. Scott accidentally hit me in the hand, which ended my participation. Stung like hell and I had a p

My day of hell

Well today was my first day back to school and all I can say is holy crap man.   The first thing I found out is that I'm not as good at math as I thought I was. I mean, we did some review problems on the board and we were just randomly calling out the variables to some really easy expressions as the teacher wrote them out, and after about the sixth one, I stopped calling out my answers because they were all wrong Maybe I just need to get back into the motions of school, but I felt so out o

I just want you to know who I am

Since Friday, I've seen him every single day. Today made me happy. He's just so darn cute! My friend (who's also a manager) kept telling us to stop flirting, and he never denied it. He just kind of smiled and looked down. At one point, I was folding shirts at the cash wrap and he was helping a customer, and he kind of pushed my stuff over and told me that I was invading his space. I retaliated with it actually being him invading my personal bubble, and when we were moving the stuff back

Redheads have more fun

So today has been totally awesome! I slept really late, caught up with some really fantastic people online ( 's to you guys ), finally got to talk to my friend Claire about her most recent break-up (I was really worried about her from her messages and stuff, but we kept missing each other's calls) and I think she's going to be okay.   Then I caught up on ALOT of household chores, and I'm almost completely done, and I'm just SO much more relaxed and happy when everything's really tidy and cl

When Metaphors Attack!

It is what we call earthquake weather here in Los Angeles. Well, not quite proper earthquake weather, the wind is not as still as a celebrity's last photograph, but as we did have a small shake down here this morning, it is hard to quibble. I've noticed that just about everyone who writes about Southern California uses the phrase "earthquake weather" at one point or another, so I thought it best to get it out of my system early so I wouldn't be bothered by it in my later years. I tend not to ass

Libris Magnus- I

I have been working on a project for a long time that I'm going to describe in the next few blog entries.   I began collecting e-books some time ago. At first it was just a few but as I began finding more and more sources for them, my ebooks collection became like a snowball rolling downhill getting bigger and bigger gathering momentum.   It wasn't too long before the management of this collection became a real chore. This library is now several hundred gigs in size and contains over 100,000

Outed? I think not

Ok, so I know it's 7 in the morning on Sundat, and I have no idea what the hell possesed me to wake up, but I am, so let's do this. I read the entire thread that Jack Scribe started about the article written about Senator Craig, and it makes for good reading. But I think the writer missed one important point: No one outed Senator Craig. That's right. He wasn't outed, he was arrested for soliciting sex in a public restroom. I won't even get into my thoughts on whether the police should have bee

Fantasies and Random Things about me

Hi all,   I've recently been corresponding with a new friend online and his questions/comments inspired the following passages from me. I decided I'd might as well share them here:   This one's poorly written, but the nature of the message was quick and casual, and I'm not going to edit it, because for some reason I instead feel that it's better to present it unaltered. Emotional Fantasy   There was a companion "Sexual Fantasy", but I'm not going to post it here since 1) it's pretty gra

Collecting Atta Boys

Well, I made it through the first four days of work and everyone is happy I'm there and picking up on the complexities of the job. It certainly isn't an easy job, not complicated, just lots of responsibilty. I guess the biggest boo-boo is putting the wrong trailers in a set and the driver not checking his load. Don't even want to go there.   So, I went in this afternoon to tell the boss I wanted to keep doing what I'm doing. He wasn't there, but the day dispatcher said she'd heard I was doing
