Weekly Wrap Up (Oct. 11 - Oct. 17)

    By wildone

I may be dating myself (not like that, geez ), but back in the days of Johnny Carson hosting the Tonight Show, Ed McMahon would always start the show off with, "Herrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre's Johnny," for an introduction. I may or may not have used AI to help recreate this  Okay, I totally did  Can't use the actual likeness of Ed McMahon though .  I just wanted to resurrect the famous line to let everyone know that Annual GA Anthology has started   In case you have been out of the  countr

days of... huh?

Okay, so monday, i go out with my friend and her fiance. We saw vantage point.... I loved it. President Ashton... has a nice ring to it, lol.   After the movie we went to dinner at Chilis.... I love their Nachos and they have this tasty fruity drink that goes 2 for 1.   After dinner we went driving... didn't really care where we were going... drove all the way to the end of university parkway, then turned around and went the other direction towards the airport. It was during this time that

Update about stories #1

I should be releasing a new chapter of Second Chances soon. Beyond that, I am reviewing anthologies. Therefore, I will not be working on my stories as much. As soon as I finish the reviews, I shall be working on finishing Dark Earth: The Prophecy Chapter 12 and the three remaining chapters of Book 1 of the series.

Awake

It's 2:30 a.m. and I'm awake.   I suppose I should be asleep, but I'm not.   Insomnia is one of the many side effects of the mood stabilizer I'm taking. It also causes drowsiness. So you end up being sleepy when you're suppose to be awake and doggedly awake when you're suppose to be asleep.   So, I worked on the new book. I'm probably on the last section of the second chapter. I can't see adding much more to this chapter once I finish with Euphorbia and Casey.   The third chapter will co

Just updating

So, I'm alive and well. I've been working my stories. I have started to post 100 Flash Stories and have since posted a story that has helped me in purging my demons. I'm also working on a new story. Jason and Gary have both looked over it. Apparently Jason wants to read the next chapter right now since I've only written the prolongue. I plan on working on the first chapter some more, but for now, I need sleep and I need to let my hand and wrist relax. My carpal tunnel is acting up again. *le s

Hey, wait a sec, this is third person!

I always forget that, especially when writing about Ben and William.   One of the cardinal sins of writing in the first person is switching points of view. You need to pick one character and stick with him or her -- no changing in the middle. Yes, I know a lot of 'net fiction does this, but it just doesn't work. (If it did you'd see it in commercial fiction, something I had pointed out to me once. I've read exactly two books that have done this, and it didn't work well in either. And if Diann

Snowdog was in town for an interview, by in-town I mean in the general Southern California area. It was neat, hadn't seen him since San Francisco.   Quick version of events.   Stowed my backpack in the trunk with recyclables.   Chatted with Snow and Viv while driving out to Anaheim.   Hung out at Viv's house for a few hours. She apparently cleaned for our arrival. Her son commented that it was odd that the place was clean , after he tried to con me into feeding the dog. What's with kid

Why take a life partner?

I was going to write this deep, brooding blog entry. Actually I did. And I posted it. Only I posted it in my personal, no-one-has-access-or-even-knows-about-it journal. The catharsis came simply from writing it and I didn't actually want to make people sit and wonder what words of support they could offer to make me feel better when really I was already feeling fine having written it.   So I do feel better. Emotional crisis averted and all that jazz.   Then if my still contemplative b

Say what?

ARGH! Ever have a night where you can't stop thinking? It's one of those nights for me. Thoughts keep going through my head and I'm not entirely sure that's a good thing. Usually when I sit and think it never turns out well, but we'll see. At least it's a nice night outside so I can leave my door open and get a breeze.   Not much new to update on. I think my brother knows I'm gay now if he didn't know before. We were having a party and the boyfriend had some homework due the next day so he was

New Content Block

For my own amusement, I started keeping track of how many new reads and reviews I was getting for each of my stories as well as keeping track of how many new chapters are being put out on a week to week basis... this helps me track how popular stories are in the present, rather than just how many times they have ever been read. My good friend TL The Writing Tiger mentioned that would be an excellent thing to add to a blog... and so I tried to do just that... the thing is, it wouldn't all fit int

Poetry versus long stories

Lately I have been writing poetry. It really does seem to be a good way to vent. I just wanted everyone to know, however, that I am still working on a chapter for DE:TP. In fact, I wrote several pages yesterday.   In other news, I have also started reading Rich Boy: Awakening. I must say I am liking it so far. I want to be caught up and ready for new chapters of the sequel within the next week or so. If you have not read it, I suggest it.

pig-latin style...

Okay so... pig-latin. Let me see if I can explain this in a way so as not to complicate it for those of you who have no idea what it is.   It's a made up, kid type language that we all learn as kids here, and basically the way it works is that you take the first letter or sound in a word and move it to the end of the word, and then add a long A sound to the end. So, for example, the word 'dog' would sound like 'og-day' or the the word 'cat' would sound like 'at-kay'. Get it?   So anyway,

I guess it's time to say something

Well, this is my very first entry in my very first blog. I better not set the expectations too high - posts will be few and far between, as I'm busy, busy, busy. . . .   If any of you have read my story, The New Job, you know that I moved here after my department was consolidated into another. A colleague of mine, a "friend", or should we say former friend, offered me a position as more of a lifeline than anything else. Unfortunately, the thing is that if anyone should never have become a

Old wounds mostly healed

http://www.gayauthors.org/efiction/viewsto...&chapter=11   I wrote this several months ago, but at that time I could not quite bring myself to actually post it among the other poems I have written for Silven... however, as time has passed, and much of the pain has eased, I think it may be suitable after all. Its not the happiest poem, it certainly took a lot out of me, though at that time it was more reflecting pain already present... even in pain though, and perhaps its just the survivali

There went my happy mood...

Okay, so I was happy up until I went to check my e-mail. I saw that I had recieved a review on my fanfiction which can be found on Adult Fanfiction. It's called A Different Life and is actually very popular. The way the story is written, it's light, yet with deeper undertones and there are many things that are held back, including what I've been calling the Demon Hunters. It's because I haven't decided what to officially call them, what language to use, and where to let the cat out of the bag.

Please stay.

So lately I've been kind of emotional, and I haven't pinned it to anything. I'm controlling my emotions in the sense that only one or two people even know that things are affecting me the way they are. I've done a pretty good job of putting on a smile and not letting it affect my performance at work or my mood around my friends. Whenever I get home, though, I just feel like I want to eat a pint of ice cream and watch Will & Grace and not think about anything else (which I of course haven'

DKStories, horrifying tales of junior high, and the Banana Man...

First of all... and most importantly... Davey is HOOOOOOOOOOOOME!!!!!!!!!!!   ... for a week    dkstories... this one's for you (but only because now that you've been subjected to the amazing amount of nerdiness that Rich posesses, and I know you'll appreciate this. Robert, too!)   My objections to this video are rather limited actually... but it managed to create a rather LARGE and RIDICULOUS debate between Rich and I. So let me pose the question to all of you rather literar

He's got something to tell me

...and I really shouldn't be trying to figure it out, but it's driving me crazy now!   So, if anyone happened to be following the "weird night" thread in the Lounge, they'll know that I purposely stayed up all night so that I could get some of that quiet alone time. Anyway around 8am I went to sleep. Well about 11:45 William called. He and a couple of other guys we're friends with had had plans this morning to go to this event. I was originally going to go with them, but it feel through.

Fiddling's fun!

Not productive, mind, but fun.   Being a Computer Geek in real life, when I did up the new layout for Wild Life, I wanted it simple to splat out new chapters without me having to fiddle much with the generated HTML, while still having it look good.   The looking good bit was tricky (and it turns out that IE7 has a busted CSS box model, so my outdented chapter tabs didn't work, dammit! No tabs for you, IE users!). I knew what I wanted it to look like, but I've never done any CSS work, so it w
