Veggie Delivery

We signed up for weekly veggie delivery. Their mandate is to distribute fruit and vegetables that are not 'good' enough to sell to the usual markets and stores and sell them to subscribers weekly. It's $18 for the 'solo' box and $3 for delivery. So far it's been great. We've eaten everything, tried new things and enjoyed it all. We've had the most amazingly fresh food. Today, my younger brother is the bravest person i know. 2 years ago, my nephew was killed on his first day of university. Today, he and my sister-in-law, took my niece to school to begin her freshman year. A Different Kind of Story (for me)

I've been working on a new sort of story, a sort I've never really written. I'm writing a story about a "what if" scenario. It's a tale, set in a world much like our own, with one key difference. My Dad

Saturday night at 11:05 PM, I lost my dad to a long and slow battle with dementia. He was relaxed and comfortable when he passed and luckily all 3 of his children were by his side. i just don't understand...

They're good kids, young adults, young men, mostly housebroken. They really are. But today i'd sell them to the gypsies. When we got the house put back together after the floors were installed they were told that at least twice a week the floors needed to be dry mopped, swept, and at least every weekend a good wipe down. Not even a full mopping, just use the Swiffer wet. We’ll  drag out the mop and bucket every other weekend. As long as it’s kept clean, and spills or whatever are wiped up r

It's been a weird week

This has been a long, weird week. Am i glad it's over? Well that's a loaded question. Last Monday the process of getting new flooring started. See, the landlady is having tile floors installed. Phil & the boys were shifting furniture around the house each day. It's an enormous mess & stressful for me to be in such a chaotic environment. i have an online class i'm taking & with the mess at home i've had to find other places to do that. Luckily, we have a great coffee shop in town

Some thoughts about my Micro-fiction story

I never write micro-fiction, short stories around or under 1,000 words. It's very hard to create a story that I want to write, while reducing details down. A Loss

Lesson Learned

Well, yesterday tim and I had a rather big yet stupid argument. It wasn't nice, tim was rightly angry and hurt. I don't remember the last time I felt that angry.  It was totally preventable and it was organic.  What happened isn't important, it was a true accident, tim was hurt physically (not badly), but I told him to get out of the way. he took offense to my reaction and left the kitchen quietly.
